If you’re looking for a place that serves mouth-watering Indian and Chinese delicacies with great ambiance and service, Bansuri Restaurant in Mulund East is a must-visit. From the first bite to the last, every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection.
Ambience & Decor (4.5/5):
Bansuri offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it a great place for both casual dining and special occasions. The interiors are well-lit with comfortable seating, and the overall ambiance is warm and welcoming. Whether you’re visiting with family or friends, the setup adds to the overall experience.
Service (4/5):
The staff is courteous, attentive, and efficient. Our order was served promptly, and they ensured we had everything we needed throughout our meal. However, one major concern is the lack of Marathi-speaking staff.
This is Maharashtra, and it is essential—non-negotiable—that restaurants have staff who can communicate in Marathi. Many locals, especially senior citizens, are more comfortable speaking in their native language. It would be great if the management either hires Marathi-speaking staff or ensures their current staff is trained in Marathi. This would make the dining experience much more comfortable for many customers.
Food & Taste (5/5):
Now, the highlight of our visit – the food! Every dish was packed with bold flavors, cooked to perfection, and served fresh. Here’s what we tried: • Chicken Lollipop: Crispy, juicy, and well-seasoned, with just the right amount of spice. The accompanying sauce added a nice tangy kick. • Shami Kebab: Soft, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The kebabs had a great balance of spices and a melt-in-the-mouth texture. • Chicken Handi: A standout dish! The gravy was rich, creamy, and full of aromatic spices, perfectly complementing the tender chicken pieces. • Crispy Chicken: Crunchy on the outside, tender inside – this was a great starter with a delicious seasoning blend. • Chicken Manchow Soup: A comforting bowl of goodness! The soup had the perfect consistency with a rich, spicy flavor and a good mix of chicken and vegetables.
Value for Money (5/5):
For the quality, portion sizes, and taste, Bansuri offers excellent value for money. The pricing is reasonable, and the flavors make every penny spent worth it.
Overall Verdict:
Bansuri Restaurant in Mulund East is a fantastic place for those craving delicious Indian and Chinese dishes. With a great mix of flavors, quality ingredients, and exceptional service, it’s a spot worth visiting again. However, the management must ensure Marathi-speaking staff are available, as this is a necessity in Maharashtra.

Read moreOne of the good restaurants in Mulund East.
Strategically located Hotel hardly 100 meters away from the Mulund East Railway station. My feedback is on the my first visit to this place and strong recommendation of my close friend with whom we did have lunch here. The restaurant has two floors and as I understand the lower floor is for dine in restaurant and the upper floor is banquet. Washrooms are just opposite the main entry (at reasonable distance and separated from the general incoming and occupied customers so no disturbance to anybody). Wash rooms are well maintained. Neat & clean.
The positives: Food prepared is of great taste and is served very systematically. Presentation of the dishes is done so well that that the aroma & looks itself is enough to temp guests. Quantity and quality both are justifiable. The ambience of the Hotel is quite great. One will enjoy his/her meal at any time of the day. Airconditioning is quite balanced (Not very strong and not very low). Lighting too is balanced. (Mostly its on the Yellow tone as they serve hard drinks well). Seating is well arranged. (A bit compact or rather congested, but can be understood & acknowledged as Mumbai is one of the costliest cities in the world). Service offered is very good. The attending team is keenly watching your table and any requirements / fresh / repeat orders are taken care nicely. The preparation time (waiting period post ordering your dish) too is quite nominal. Rather guest will enjoy spending time there & having a word with companion while waiting for the meals to arrive. Background music is played at the ideal levels. (Not very loud and not very dim.)
Things that could have had been better: Since the dining hall is a bit compact and to get max. efficiency, the tables are closely placed. Instances when a big group is arriving here can create commotion and disturbance to the adjacent guest. In comparison of the tables placed to attend guest & the dinning hall area. I personally feel that the team of waiters are on higher side. More over due space constraints all of them just stand in front of the billing desk.. Tables near the billing desk are like constantly under the radar of waiters (Guest may feel uncomfortable for this). Guest preferring veg only restaurants may not be comfortable here as this place also offers non veg cuisines. Since this place is very close to Railway station area & on the main road. Guests coming on personal vehicles may face parking issues.

Read moreThis a review about the party/celebration hall at Bansuri. The hall is called Symphony and is a popular venue for celebrations and parties in Mulund. It is a big hall that can easily take 80-100 people and the food is served in one side of the same hall. You will have to climb up one flight of narrow stairs so that becomes an issue for old/pregnant folks. The food is cooked at the in-house restaurant and the quality is generally good. Which is why it is an automatic choice for functions for those residing in Mulund East.
We had been in touch with Mr Prakash, who manages the hall booking, since the start of June 2021 for a Mangalorean function. However, given the situation around Covid we wanted to keep the number of people at 25-30 to maintain social distancing and follow Covid regulations. He said we would have to pay for 50 people and we were OK with that. Since then, we were in constant discussions around the event, food, decorations etc.
On the morning of 30th June, we spoke again and said we would like to finalise the hall and he asked us to come the next day as he was not in the hall that day. An hour later we get a call from Mr Rajesh from Bansuri. He enquired how many people were scheduled to come. When we said 25-30, he said he had another group with 80 people so he is giving the hall away to them. We were in shock! The management had cancelled our booking without consulting us for a few thousand more in profit. He offered us a small room, which has a bar counter and is 1/5th the size of the original hall. Fitting 30 people here, even in normal times would be a challenge, let alone in the midst of a pandemic with social distancing regulations.
Bansuri has been around for over 25 years and we have always had a good experience there but this left us with a bad taste. We understand and sympathise with the difficult situation for the hospitality industry but incidents like this will only mean that they have one customer less.
Left high and dry, we now have 10 days remaining for the function but no venue for it. We have to hunt for an alternative venue and start discussion again. The unprofessional and callous attitude shown by the management does not suit the brand value that Bansuri...
