Vihar Refreshments — Restaurant in Mumbai

Had lunch thali at this restaurant today. The food was hot, freshly made and tasty. Food quantity was sufficient. I opted for a puri thali. The thali consisted: 5 puris, plate rice, 2 dry vegetables, 1 usal, dal, tomato rasam, bowl of curd, onion & pickle, plate of mini papads (fried - 5 in no.) and sweet. All this for Rs 145/-. Except for tomato rasam, all the other items were lip-smacking good. Thoroughly satisfied.

This is one of the oldest restaurants in Mulund (E) and is in the same league as Vishwa Bharati & Vishwa Mahal (since closed) which are in Mulund (W).

When my extended family migrated to Mumbai during 50s, we were initially staying at Mulund (E). This is probably the first restaurant I have ever been to. I clearly remember having kwality ice cream at this place as a 4 year old way way back in 1971.

Have been old customer of vihar. Recently had a chance to revisit this eatery. It is one of the oldest hotel in mulund East. Plus point is they have maintained quality over year. It is famous for South Indian food so sambar and coffee are good. Good thing is for Chinese and biryani and few other items, they offer half plate also which is Missing in many hotel these days hence even a single person can also enjoy it. I have been to this place recently. Very impressed with Briyani presentation. Since have been to many food joints but no one give such a lovely garnishing and properly serves it. Staff is very friendly and they attended properly. #They offer half plate also which can serve single person and food 🥘 not get waste. #Very economical rates.
