Baoji Asian Home – This hidden gem in the by lanes of Andheri Lokhandwala is one of the best Pan Asian restaurants I have visited recently.
We visited this quaint restaurant on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, and the place is cosy with old-world charm decors & paintings adorning the walls. The mezzanine floor is perfect during evening time to chill.
Baoji offers some well curated meals along with an open bar.
We tried couple of their cocktails, the “Classic White Wine Sangria” mixed with freshly chopped green apple pieces was perfect for a hot afternoon while the “Mulberry Mint Saketini” was refreshing with mulberries & mint addition along with sake & vermouth.
Moving to the food section :
The “Seafood Treasure Soup” was an absolute burst of flavours with a generous portion of prawns, fish in a spicy broth – Loved it!
“Salmon Carpaccio” was neatly prepared, and we loved the freshness of the fish and sliced to thin rolls dressed in ponzu sauce.
“Turnip Cake” again, a Chinese delicacy made of radish, was super soft in texture and topped with burnt garlic & chili – Must try for vegetarians!
“Purple Chicken Open Face Bao” was truly a stand out with vibrant purple colored open bao stuffed with BBQ flavoured grilled chicken topped with cheese sauce – Recommended!
“Chicken Poached Peking Dumpling” was again flavorful, served in a bed of soy sauce, and had a good portion of chicken inside the dumpling.
“Truffle Yaki Udon Noodle Veg” was thick noodles mixed with veggies & pepper for that spicy touch.
“Chicken Katsu Donburi” was wholesome with a portion of rice topped with crunchy fried chicken breast on a bed of Umami flavoured curry with chicken pieces added in. Hands down the highlight of my meal here, and I recommend this dish to all visiting here.
Tried an innovative house special dessert – “Fired Horlicks Bun” which was basically sweet bun deep-fried with gooey Horlicks paste inside! It's worth a try!
For the love of food, Baoji Asian Home will definitely impress you with their dishes – We know we will be...
Read moreI came to Baoji Asian Home with great expectations tonight. I had a plan with my friends, whom I was meeting after a long time. Our idea was to meet at a place that serves delicious food, has a nice ambience, where we could sit down and spend time with each other. We had tons of catching up to do.
The food was delicious for which I genuinely wanted to give 5 stars in this review but because the serving staff (and then later the manager, Mr. Vipul) literally asked us to vacate our table, I am forced to write this review. We had ordered tons food, giving tons of business to the restaurant, but still we were told that it's a rule at 'fine dine' establishments that people cannot sit for more than two hours. We were shown the watch and told that we had been sitting for over an hour and had to hand back the table. Never have I felt so insulted at an establishment where I was paying money (AND service tax) for their services. We mentioned that their behaviour was making them lose customers to which they nodded and said that it was alright.
For other reasons, me and friends sat outside the restaurant for about 25 minutes after being asked to vacate, to find that several tables in the place still remained unoccupied. I am really confused about why paying customers were dealt with such rudeness.
On a Sunday evening, people don't just step out for a nice meal but also to spend a decent time with their loved ones. They don't expect to be treated like this. I'm leaving with a sour taste in my mouth and an empty stomach.
In case Mr. Vipul says otherwise, I request the owner - whoever they are, to check the camera footage to see the...
Read moreWent in with my daughter for lunch, my daughter took me in just fascinated by it's interiors from the outside,we were tempted to go in to explore n to my surprise what it looked from outside cute with those small windows n pink walls , inside was even better. A pan asian cusine,I have fallen in love with this place it's such a warm place loved the ambience.. it's a place you can hang around with your friends, you can walkin alone.. The restaurant is full of lovely books which will give you company incase you are alone& the choice of books kept is lovely. They have 2 floors, so if you are in alarger grp you can have your privacy. The interior is full of personalised things, a very rare thing to see in these pan asian restaurant. Coming to the menu is spectacular they have a mixed cuisine menu & me being a connoisseur for food look for such places. My daughter loves prawn sushis , we started with that, the crunch in them accompanied with wasabi n sweet ginger, then order Chung Fung, they were so tasty n full of so much flavours n then the baos, the soya bao the fake meat that they call on their menu was too good being veg. There were enough choices for vegetarian too. I was pretty confusion seeing the lavish spread on their menu. Economical on pocket for a pan asian restaurant n valet available. I guess I still haven't gotten enough of this place, can't wait to go back to this place. Pics in my daughter's phone which I never got...
