The plan was to surprise my Godfather for his 75th birthday as I was unable to make it… but super surprised with the way birdy’s has been … firstly note I have ordered directly from their site and not Zomato or Swiggy which may just have been better … The site is rubbish as I chose a slot and then found out after paying that they don’t do delivery as per schedule so the cake got sent a day earlier so much for a surprise … BIGGEST FAIL!!! Never ordering birdy’s again and would urge everyone to not aswell because if you’ll want to ruin your big day or save yourself trouble this is the worst idea
When I asked is there any other solution, After contacting them I got told they could refund while taking the cake back … or exchange with another cake ! CHERRY ON THE TOP … they don’t have the replacement as I ordered and paid for a 1 kg while they had only 1/2 kgs available .. so I’m like does that even make sense … and refund and you take the cake back is even more stupid.. I ordered a day early so I had a confirmed delivery … where as now I’d be stuck searching for a cake !!! Truly horrible service !!! What a bad turn of events … I myself come from a service background and this is a complete nightmare … also big question them replacing my cake means they will give someone an old cake meaning how do you know how old their cakes are ? Are any of them fresh ? My take away from this is Birdys needs to rethink their whole strategy!!!! Service ???? Big question … fresh cakes ???? Biggest question I for one am never ordering from them I can’t take a chance of ordering a cake that costs a good amount without the surety of it being baked on the same day … they probably all recycled cakes...
Read moreI recently visited Birdy’s Cake Shop, Orlem, Malad West, for a late-night sweet craving, and I must say it was quite an experience. The fact that the shop is open even around 11:30 pm is a huge plus point. It’s not very easy to find a cake shop open so late at night, so Birdy’s definitely scores well on accessibility and convenience.
I picked up two of their signature pastries – Death by Chocolate and Chocolate Overload Pastry. Both looked very tempting in the display, with rich layers of chocolate and a good finishing touch. Taste-wise, they were decent but not extraordinary. The Death by Chocolate had the classic layered feel, with sponge and chocolate mousse balancing each other, but it could have been richer and more indulgent. The Chocolate Overload Pastry lived up to its name visually, but flavor-wise it felt a bit repetitive, with the chocolate cream slightly overpowering rather than giving a balanced taste.
In terms of quality, Birdy’s still maintains a good standard – fresh, soft, and presentable pastries. But I’ve had better chocolate experiences at some of their other outlets in the past, so expectations were higher.
Overall, Birdy’s Orlem remains a reliable late-night option for cakes and pastries in Malad West. Service was quick, and the takeaway process was smooth. I’d rate my experience a solid 4/5 – good, but there’s room for improvement in taste...
Read moreYesterday, I procured 4 tiramisu and 2 chocolate mousse from Orlem branch and after half an hour when we tasted, they tasted sour and awful. On call, the birdys representative confirmed that they hold responsibility. Whereas, the package clearly mentions it's suitable for consumption till 15th June (find attached photos). They can't process refund as it's not under company policy and for refund they expect me to come to orlem all the way from madh Island or pay delivery charges. Disclaimer: storage temperature and knowledge about consumption is being proposed by representative and no such protocols were explained by store...
