Oh! What should I tell you about this place.... ? Saying I had a pleasant experience would be an understatement.
This place is sweet shop and eatery in one. The moment I entered the shop I was welcomed warm heartedly. I spoke in marathi and the person behind the counter greeted me in marathi. When i told the person behind the counter I am here to eat chole bhature, I was directed to the table with such politeness and warmth, that too in marathi, I immediately felt I have made the right decision coming here to devour chole bhature. I was REALLY IMPRESSED WHEN THE PERSON SPOKE WITH ME IN MARATHI.
The staff at the table greeted me in a humble way and with open arms so much so that even some of our religious places lack such attitude when interacting with devotees. Believe me it was really something. The cherry on the top was that the staff was attentive to the customers. I HOPE IN FUTURE THEY HIRE PEOPLE WITH SUCH DEDICATION.
Ambience is very jovial, they have mouth watering sweet station on one side, the kitchen is right next to the tables. Just like the tables it is clean and you can watch all the action going on through the transparent glass that separates it from the eating area. WELL THOUGHT OUT PLAN.
I ordered chole bhature and samosa chole, I actually wanted to eat samosa chaat but believe me, have samosa chole with their chutney you will forget your craving for samosa chaat. What! Can I say about chole bhature. They were so good and so delicious that now after coming home from this place I am regretting not getting a parcel to eat them again at home. If you want to eat chole bhature in Andheri this is the place, I can't stress it enough this is the place. Samosa chole was equally delicious. Samosa is not your typically somosa one can find all over Mumbai, have it and your taste buds will appreciate the beautiful change. WHEN THE SERVER BROUGHT ME THE SAMOSA CHAAT HE CAUTIONED ME ABOUT THE HOT SAMOSA SO THAT I DON'T BURN BURN MY TONGUE, SUCH WAS THE QUALITY OF MY EXPERIENCE HERE.
Easily one of the best experience I had while eating anywhere. The only draw back I found was the absence of UPI payment. If the MANAGEMENT READS THIS THEN I REQUEST THEM TO GIVE US ANOTHER OPTION TO PAY OTHER THAN CASH AND CARD.
I am definitely going back many more times and will definitely tell everyone about this awesome place.
And last but not the least whole staff was wearing mask. I make it a point now a days to only visit places where people wear masks. So this place came through here also.
Update- They have started accepting payments...
Read moreGulati Sweets & Snacks, located in Andheri East on Mahakali Caves Road is a place to indulge in a perfect North Indian flavours. The options for savoury snacks are limited but they are flavourful. The quality has been always top class & consistent for years together as I have been eating from Gulati sweets and snacks since last 30 years. I ensure that I go on an empty stomach whenever I visit Gulatis as I leave with a full belly & smile. They serve really good chole bhature, samosas, kachoris in savoury items. I have tried out samosas which are always fresh, less oily & crispy (khasta) served with hot green & sweet sour chatnis that are proper combination of spicy, sweet & sour. The chole samosas, chole bhature, kachori with the chatnis as well as kachori chole. The Khaman dhokala is also very soft and spongy with good quality taste. I have heard that they also serve Maharashtrian Kothimbir Vadi but I have not tasted it yet. Their namkeen Mathris are crunchy(khasta). This place is sweet shop and eatery in one. Their sweets are just outstanding. They have fresh hot jalebis & their Gulab Jamuns are equally yummy. The Jalebi is very crispy & when had dipped in rabdi was very creamy and delicious. Malai roll, Moong Halwa, Ras Malai, malai peda, khajoor barfi, Gajar ka halwa when in season, gulkand barfi, Soan papdi are all outstanding. They have many more Mithais . Ambience is very clean & the place is well lit. The kitchen visible and you can see the items being made through the glass. They have the fresh sweets displayed in glass counter which is refrigerated to prevent the milk sweets from spoiling quickly. The service is quick and the servers are efficient. The server once warned me about eating my samosa immediately as it was just out of the kadhai. I always carry home a few portions of chole samosas with chatni for my family. I avoid carrying chole bhature as I prefer eating them when they are hot. The packing for the items that I order for takeaway is always done neatly in containers which are always packed very nicely with necessary accompaniments without me having to ask for it. Overall always had a...
Read moreOne Saturday afternoon at lunch time, I was finding options to eat in and around my office as I was bored with the food at my regular Udupi joint. I "Zomatoed" the vicinity and out popped this sweet shop cum Quick Service Restaurant.
Gulati's core speciality is Mithai, one round in the shop will confirm that. But their other speciality items had kept people waiting, Chhole Bhature and Samosa. I could see boxes being lined up for them to be packed.
I ordered for Chhole Bhature and I was told there is waiting of atleast 15-20 minutes. So I ordered for Samosa, that was out of stock and would not be available for next 1-2 hours since they were awaiting a fresh batch.
To kill time, I ordered for a Kachori. It was yummy with a very tasty filling and the spicy green chutney. By then the Bhatura were fried and ready and the parcels were sent out.
A plate with freshly fried and just-out-of-oil Bhatura with chhole, pickle and onion pieces was kept in front of me. I poked my finger in the bhatura to let off the steam and started gorging on it. The chhole was nice, soft and whole. The spices were kept just so perfect that it doesn’t taste bland nor is it very spicy, it’s something in between. It reminded of the chhole you get at Paharganj, opposite Delhi Railway Station.
You can satisfy your sweet tooth if you are in the mood for it because there are many items which will catch your fancy. By the way, Jalebi’s are a speciality here.
Or else you can pay for the food and walk to the next shop, which is a dairy outlet of a famous brand and wash down the heavy food, you just had, with a glass of chhass or lassi.
A must-visit place for authentic chhole bhatura & some...
