This is a Malwani cuisine restaurant in Kalanagar, Bandra East. Their speciality is the sea food varieties. Crabs. Prawns. Pomfrets. Mussels. Clams. Rawas. And many others.
They also serve mutton, chicken, vegetarian thali which comprises of one curry, 2 chapatis, sol kadhi, thecha as a spicy pickle and a bowl of rice. And you can replace the rice bowl with 01 chapati. It is of course not an unlimited thali as in the other vegetarian thali joints serving Rajasthani or Gujarati food.
I think they have a seating area of about 100 people or so. Very basic. But good enough, since the food is good.
Vegetarian thali comes with 3 vegetables and a Dal, with 2 chapatis and a bowl of rice.
We visit this restaurant at least once a month if not twice. The attendants are good people and know what you will order, that’s because they see us there very frequently.
If you are fond of sea food and not only see food, and that too the Malwan style food, you should go here. Because of recent hikes in prices with all the taxes and inflation soaring the skies, the prices have increased undeniably. But since the food is delicious in its own way, and you need to go out to feel alive, it’s okay. Last night when we were dining here, I saw a lady with 3 guests walking in. And the way she was greeted there, it seemed she has been frequenting this restaurant for quite a long time. And then I heard the lady saying she has been eating here for last 22 years!!!!!!
You understand what I said? Must go place!
We have been visiting this place for many years, but of late the quality has degraded. My family ordered mutton thali which they have always been doing, but when they got the mutton, it had hardly any meat but most of it was tendons and muscles only. We informed the staff attending us and he got one extra mutton, which to our dismay had the SAME TYPE OF MEAT!!!! Talking to the owner is next to impossible task because he refuses to acknowledge your complaint. We were very disappointed this...

Its on service road. Restaurant is not easily noticiable but Location is easily accessible. Being on service road you can be assured to get a parking for your car.
Place is quite big with simple but fresh ambiance. Sitting arrangement is not great comfortable. Most of the time place is crowded.
We ordered Veg Thali & Tisrya Sukkha Thali along with bombil Fry.
Veg Thali : Average Taste. Ok Ok. Not bad though. But you don't visit Malvani or Gomantak restaurant for Veg Thali. Right?
Tisrya Sukka Thali : Big turn off. Presentation was pathetic (look at the picture). They gave Kube instead of Tisrya. (Kube has shiny texture to shell while tisrya has rough one. Kube has slimy feeling in mouth while Tisrya tastes far better than Kube. Again Kube are very cheap as compared to Tisrya). So got a feeling of cheating here. Eating Kube after ordering Tisrya. For Tisrya gravy, it was a green color gravy, not a typical red malvani colour. But taste was not bad. Not great either. Fish Curry was tasty. Having typical malvani taste.
Bombil: Another Turn off. 5 small bombils for Rs. 350 in a non-restaurant is very very costly. Were very oily & not much crispy. Were piled up one above other. So bottom pieces were all soaked in oil from top placed pieces. Who does that? Few pieces were even broken. Can't u give that in bigger plate when u charge hepty Rs. 350 for it? (If you love crispy bombil, then try them at Malwani Aswad at Vile Parle)
Overall experience was not good.
Verdict: Overhyped Restaurant. Very expensive as compared to place & taste. If you are fan of Malvani style Seafood delicacies, it's better to...
Read more“नाम बडे दर्शन छोटे” 🤣 Most overrated n overpriced restaurant all i can say. I heard from many people about this place so i decided to go. I have tried nonveg thalis at many places but this was worst thali i ever had. Firstly We wanted to eat fish thali. But they dont serve Fried fish in thali!!! 😳You have to spend separate 600₹ for fried fish piece. And 320 for thali which is very less in quantity. Finally we ordered chicken thali. They dont serve separate rassa in thali. Rice quantity was so less 😶🌫️. Many restaurants serve jawla with thali but they dont serve it here. Chapati was very dry n cold. Taste was not that great! Take a Look at the picture of thali it looks so boring and incomplete. I dont know for what they are charging such high prices. This thali not even worth 150₹😖. I felt hungry even after finishing it(even i ordered extra chapati).घरी जाऊन पुन्हा जेवावे लागले😭. I personally felt “50-100₹ जास्त घ्या पण पोटभर थाळी जेवू घाला”. Even ambience is not that great. Dont know why people made so much hype about this place. They are looting people. I live near this restaurant but will never visit again. I think Jay hind is better option than this for sea food. Believe me, People who are giving five star ratings here are yet to explore best sea food...
