For those living in Girgaum/ Charni Road, Khana Khazana is synonymous with good North Indian cuisine. I have been associated with the restaurant for almost two years now since my work place is close by.
With the revamping it underwent last year, the restro looks completely different. A great interior designer will make the most of the space available and that's exactly what can be witnessed here as the restaurant can now accommodate upto forty five people from the original thirty. The walls are done up in a hatke style having quotes with some protuding characters, at the same time radiating warmth from its earthy shades of brown and cream apart from the courteous service that is it's USP.
They have recently launched a new menu to include some popular Italian, Lebanese and Mexican food we love. I've tried almost everything and there's nothing that I didn't love.
The Cheese Garlic Bread has four big, crispy slices baked to perfection and served with a dip that's twisted since it has corn and green beans in mayo. You are bound to love it!
The Nachos are dressed with a thick and delicious cheese sauce served with spicy tomato salsa to give you a burst of flavours along with some finely sliced red bell peppers adding up to the presentation of the dish. Must Have!
The Hummus with Pita comes with a side of carrots and lettuce in a dressing (there's cucumber for the Jain folks) and a delicious olive and sundried tomato paste. The smooth hummus complements perfectly with the lightly grilled Pita bread. Recommended!
The joy of having Cheese Fondue is something that can't be described and just needs to be had by ourselves. The mix of sauteed veggies like broccoli, zucchini, bell peppers provide a green touch to the moderately thick yet calorie loaded cheese sauce served with many crisp bread crumbs.
Their Pizza comes with a thin crust topped with mozzarella, black olives, corn, cottage cheese and bell peppers. Recommended for pizza lovers and even others!
They bake their bread in-house, be it the garlic bread, Pita or for the Pizza. Even the nacho chips are made by them and that's what I love about restaurants that do not outsource their nacho chips!
For Pasta fans, there's the penne in Arrabbiata, Alfredo as well as Pink sauce. I like having best of both the worlds and therefore Pink is my favourite. The pasta is cooked well with colourful peppers and corn, topped with more cheese and basil leaves.
Apart from these, I love their Veg Maharaja and Rim Jhim from the North Indian selection. The Palak Dosa is a healthy and tasty preference over the regular Masala Dosa filled with potatoes. Masala Khichiya and Khichdi Kadhi are recommended if you're looking for homely Gujju style food. Jain versions are available for most of the dishes.
EATING WELL IS A FORM OF SELF RESPECT - that's one of the quotes on their walls and apt indeed! I'd say "Eat well, Eat at...

Read moreA perfect family dining place to indulge in a lot of varieties from their special multi-cuisine menu varieties. Its a whole paradise of scrumptuous meal to choose from while the family can have a special time bonding and eating lovely food out here. They offer Gujarati, Punjabi, Chinese, South indian and even limited mexican and lebanese options too alongwith the traditional Mumbai style food. Dessert and beverage options are limited. I could see beautiful families chilling and the vibrant ambiance to spend a happy time. Everything came out to be too warm and welcoming. The staff was very friendly providing you your order in no time. According to my experience, khana khazana is more of Indian food rather chinese or mexican or any other (not indian) dishes that they offer, so 1 would recommend to only opt for Indian food and you could know why from my below mentioned food experience- My dinner experience was a mix of Chinese, Gujarati and Punjabi dishes. I had chinese and gujarati as my starters and went for punjabi as the main course. My orders were- • Veg Mushroom Soup- This was very nice; had loads of mushroom and veggies just like hot & sour. • Sweet Corn Soup- This was too sweet, the proper taste of authentic sweet corn soup was not here. • Veg Manchurian- This had more of soya sauce present in the manchurian. • Paneer chilly- Atleast paneer was crispy, again the same had soya sauce more. • Masala Fried Khichia- Just loved this authentic Gujarati option. This had liads of veggies, butter, green chutney and crispiness to bite on. • Deewana Mastana- A punjabi dish option highly recommended- basically its a mix of two veggies.
• Kaju Khazana- This had kaju and garlic. Will go well with kulcha or roti. • Cheese garlic naan & butter kulcha- Good • Caramel Custard- This one's my favourite. Must try if you wanna go for a dessert. This was their dessert of the day. • Chocolate mousse- Dessert of the day turned out to be delicious for a chocolate lover. Rich Indian food and cosy environment are what I would look for in this place. The vibe is warm and a must for family dining and...
