McDonald's — Restaurant in Mumbai

Fast Food really? I and the cars behind were waiting nearly 25-30 min to get my order. At first there was no one at the order taking counter (yes it was late night , but they were open as the sign said). After honking for 2-3 min he magically appeared from no where so assume he must have been somewhere in the space. Second, the credit card machine he mentioned was not powered on (really?). Third, he put the order as veg instead of my chicken in both burgers that I ordered. As with many, I didn't look at the charge slip till I went to the pick up counter and since it was taking long and I had nothing to do, I just read my receipt and noticed the error. Wanted to bring this to the notice of the people at delivery bit they just kept gesturing that they will be coming over and my order was been prepared. I had to shout out loud that there is an error when they came over and apologised. Promptly assuring me they will correct the order and make me a fresh burger but it will take further time. A further wait and then finally another person hands me the packet of the order. Wanting to be sure based on my experience till now, I asked him if it's chicken. He looks at the order and tells me it's veg. Frustration mounting now. Still trying to keep my cool , I told him that someone assured me that it's been corrected. He goes, enquires and one more round and 10 more minutes follow and finally my right order gets handed over. Man, I used to hit up this joint all the time, but now things have taken a techy twist, you won't believe it. They've got this newfangled technology where you can't just plop down and chill unless you punch in your order on this fancy self-service machine. Sounds cool, right? But hold up, this machine's got more options than a maze, but don't trip, they've got attenders by your side with friendly vibes to help you out.

So here's the drill: you gotta order on this machine, pay up, and then kick back and wait for your grub or drink to slide your way. No more DIY service, it's all about ordering and waiting. Sounds good in theory, but man, there was a bit of chaos in the mix. We were waiting for an ice cream for what felt like a lifetime - reminded them thrice, and get this, the spot where they serve it was right next to our table. They didn't budge till we stirred up a little ruckus.

Seems like the tech wave needs a bit of taming, you know what I'm saying? And brace yourself, my fellow ice tea lovers, 'cause my all-time fave, the McD ice tea, it's gone from the scene. Poor customer service. They refused to exchange coke to a shake saying 'we can't refund at this time'. It was midnight. Firstly, I didn't want a refund. Secondly, it was less than 30 sec since I placed the order that I requested him to give me a shake instead of a Coke. Thirdly, assuming he's talking about a procedure (when he said 'we can't refund at this time') why can't you do it in the night? If you're open and if your systems are working fine, you can generate bills and take card payments, why can't you do a 'refund' and make another bill? I've been in retail and I know how this works. He didn't look like he wanted to help. He said he's a manager but giving a lame excuse such as this is ridiculous. Hypocrisy was at it's best, while I waited for my two orders (which I forcefully had to take) the manager comes out and informs another customer that an item that was 'billed' wasn't available and offered him a replacement. So yeah, this is what one should expect when you go to this particular outlet. Zero star...
