I recently visited the much-talked-about restaurant "Mountain Goat" at Bandra. Unfortunately, my experience at this establishment left much to be desired, and I feel compelled to share my honest review with the Zomato community.
One of the most glaring issues at Mountain Goat is the evident mismanagement and inadequate space to accommodate the influx of customers. It was disheartening to witness the overwhelmed manager, who seemed burdened by the lack of space, making poor decisions that directly affected the basic service of the restaurant. This aspect significantly impacted the overall dining experience.
To add to the disappointment, the waiting period we were informed of turned out to be significantly longer than expected. The manager had assured us a waiting time of 10-15 minutes, but we found ourselves waiting for a staggering 35 minutes and more! Such false promises and a lack of consideration for customers' time were highly disappointing.
To make matters worse, we noticed that practically nothing seemed to work at the restaurant. Firstly, the washroom, which is an essential amenity for any dining establishment, was not operational. This lack of attention to basic hygiene and comfort is simply unacceptable.
Additionally, we encountered various issues related to the restaurant's stock and services. For instance, they consistently ran out of stock, including something as basic as chopsticks for the ramen bowl. It's quite frustrating when a restaurant fails to provide the necessary tools to enjoy a particular dish properly.
Furthermore, their card machine was non-functional, which inconvenienced those who prefer cashless transactions. This lack of attention to detail and the failure to ensure essential services and amenities were operational showcased a severe lack of professionalism.
Turning our attention to the food, we had initially set our sights on trying the chicken Ramen bowl, as it appeared to be an interesting choice. However, to our disappointment, the manager informed us that chicken was out of stock, leaving us with no choice but to opt for the Prawns Ramen Bowl, which was priced at 450 Rupees. It is astonishing that a restaurant would be out of the most basic non-vegetarian item like chicken.
The Prawns Ramen Bowl itself left much to be desired. While the fried prawns were the saving grace of the dish, the ramen itself was mediocre at best. The flavors lacked depth and complexity, failing to deliver the expected satisfaction. Given these shortcomings, a rating of 2/5 is sufficient for the ramen bowl alone.
Taking into account the complete dining experience, it is regrettable to say that Mountain Goat At Bandra falls short in almost every aspect. From the mismanagement and false promises to the lack of essential amenities, stock availability issues, and underwhelming food, it is challenging to find any redeeming qualities about this establishment.
Considering all these factors, my rating for the overall dine-in experience at Mountain Goat At Bandra would be a disappointing 1/5. I sincerely hope that the management takes note of these shortcomings and strives to improve, as there is much potential in this restaurant that is currently...
Read moreMe and my partner 1st visited this outlet, when it was just one shop. The hospitality and food was absolutely awesome. Ambience was not so great. Because the AC was not working. Food made us forget the rest.
When it got converted into two shop and the owner revemped the space with new interiors. Still Hospitality was good, Ambience was absolutely amazing. Made you feel like Mountains Cafe. Still the Food was lip smacking.
We again visited the restaurant on 15th June, 2023 Around 11 or 11.30 night time. Hospitality has become absolutely poor. Ambience feels like local Chinese shop. Because it is not maintained at all. Walls have cracks, tissues thrown my customers were all over the place. It was too dirty. Kitchen was absolutely a MESS and Unhygienic. If Food inspector comes he can cancel their licence and close the restaurant. Because me and my partner both were SICK after eating here.
I am writing this review because majorly I wanted everyone to know and think twice before visiting this space.
FOOD has became absolutely pathetic in taste and in quality too. We ordered Pan Fried Momo's it was 6 pieces for 350 or 400Rs. However menu mentioned it will have mushrooms. But it did not and it was all maida and very less stuffing. When you are paying such amount you expect good portion and quality too. But It was YUCK. We ordered Thupka. It was absolutely pathetic in taste and quality was absolutely bad too. Finally we ordered our favourite Boa. But they disappointed in that too. Bun was too thick and stuffing was absolutely pathetic in taste. Felt like chef tried to make it more tastier by adding different sauces to it.
I saw the owner has recently open a new outlet in Andheri. And its a huge space.
I am sure it is just the looks. Food will be below average.
This restaurant went viral because the owner used to cook and it was his recipes. Now I heard from the staff, the owner does not cook anymore. Hence poor maintenance and quality.
He is charging alot to customers but not delivering the quality and maintaining the property well.
It's a rule. Always maintain the outlet and improvise the quality and deliver the best food from where you have started. Now the owner making the same mistake done by many in hospitality industry, neglecting the original outlet and in the rat race to open various different outlets.
If you cannnot deliver and respect the space from where it all started, one will never succeed in life.
I have the images too however this review is not allowing to upload. However I will still share with food inspector and even sue the outlet for risking the health of many customers.
I hope one day the owner and chefs learn their lesson...
Read moreMy recent visit to Mountain Goat in Bandra was, unfortunately, a deeply disappointing experience.
Ambiance & Atmosphere: The restaurant's location in a narrow lane initially held a certain charm. However, upon entering, it became clear that the atmosphere was far from welcoming. The most glaring issue was the unbearable heat. The lack of ventilation, cross-ventilation, and proper air circulation made the dining area feel like a sauna. We were informed by staff that a wiring issue was impacting their systems, which explained the lack of functioning air conditioning. This, coupled with the lack of water in the washroom (forcing us to use a public toilet outside the restaurant), significantly detracted from the dining experience. It quickly became unbearable, making it difficult to enjoy our meal.
Food: The food, while not terrible, certainly didn't live up to expectations. We started with the Chicken Crispy Open Bao and Buff Gyoza Momos. Both were okay, but nothing particularly memorable. For our mains, we ordered the Ramen Bowl, Pork Wok, and Green Thai Curry Rice. Again, the dishes were generally acceptable but lacked the flavor and finesse one expects from a restaurant of this supposed caliber. A significant letdown was the Poke, which was not served as a main dish as advertised on the menu. Instead, it arrived as a side dish, and to add insult to injury, it consisted almost entirely of pieces of pure fat. This was not only unappetizing but also misrepresented the dish entirely..
Service: While the staff member we interacted with was polite and apologetic about the issues with the facilities, this did little to alleviate the discomfort and disappointment we felt.
Verdict: I cannot recommend Mountain Goat in its current state. The combination of the sweltering heat, the non-functional washroom, and the underwhelming food made for an extremely unpleasant dining experience. Until the restaurant addresses its infrastructure issues, improves the quality of its food, and ensures accurate menu descriptions, I would advise potential diners to look elsewhere. This visit was a significant letdown, and I left feeling disappointed and...
