My father has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital twice, and our overall experience has been very positive.
Security and Access: Security is well-managed. Bags are scanned at the entrance, and visitor passes are required to access certain floors. Elevators are always manned, and the attendants are helpful in guiding you to the right floor, though during peak times there can be a wait. A big plus is the readiness of staff with wheelchairs when bringing patients for OPD visits or admission ā this makes movement within the hospital smooth and stress-free.
Admission and Rooms: Both admissions were quick and hassle-free, with room options and costs explained clearly. The first time, we had to choose the triple-sharing room (the only other option was an executive suite, which was beyond our budget). The triple-sharing room was decent, but the washroom could be better and the recliner provided for the attendant was uncomfortable. The second time, we stayed in the twin-sharing room, and the difference was significant. The facilities were much better, the washroom was clean, and there was a proper resting area for the attendant, which made a huge difference in comfort.
Care and Staff: The hospital staff were consistently kind and attentive. The male orderlies were patient, friendly, and paid attention to patient comfort. The nursing staff were exceptional ā quick to respond, patient, and caring.
Doctors and Medical Team: The doctors were excellent. They spent time explaining the patientās condition and treatment options in detail to both the patient and the family. Their clarity, professionalism, and reassuring approach gave us a lot of confidence.
Food and Diet Services: Food quality was decent and timely. The catering staff were regular and punctual, and the dietitian deserves a special mention for taking genuine interest in the patientās needs and preferences.
Billing and Payments: Billing was transparent and systematic. Detailed, itemized statements were emailed regularly, including midnight updates, which made it easy to keep track of expenses and outstanding amounts.
Reports and Dispatch: This is one area that could improve. Collecting reports after discharge was inconvenient. Some reports were at the dispatch counter, while others had to be collected from individual departments. Even though the results were ready, some were not printed, and we had to remind staff about missing reports. A centralized collection point or emailed copies would greatly help patients and families.
Canteen: The canteen on the second floor operates on fixed meal timings for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is reasonably good, though nothing exceptional.
Overall Experience: Lilavati Hospital stands out for its quality of care, professional staff, and transparent processes. The doctors are excellent and thorough, the nurses are patient and caring, and the entire staff ā from security to catering ā is polite and friendly, which makes a stressful time a little easier. While there is room for improvement in areas like the triple-sharing facilities and report collection, the overall patient care and experience were excellent. Itās a hospital we would trust and return...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFeedback on Experience at Lilavati Hospital
I am writing to share my feedback regarding my recent experience at Lilavati Hospital. I believe it's important to convey both positive and negative aspects to ensure continuous improvement in patient care.
Rates: The rates at the hospital are considerably high. There seems to be a disparity in pricing that particularly affects middle-class individuals, with costs escalating significantly for grades above 5. It would be helpful for future patients to come prepared for the financial implications.
Nursing Staff: While the nurses appear to be well-supervised and generally competent, I found them to be somewhat limited in their ability to provide updates. Additionally, it seems that some nurses lacked the necessary training, leading to confusion about what information they should convey to patients.
Support Staff: The support staff, including security personnel, lift attendants, and assisting staff, were very helpful and provided good service during my stay. Overall Experience: The cost for a three-day stay was exorbitant, and unfortunately, my interactions with the doctors, particularly junior and floor doctors, were less than satisfactory. I found some of the medical staff to be rude and lacking in effective communication skills.
Food Service: Despite informing the hospital staff about my dietary restrictions, my dietary needs were not adequately met, and I was often encouraged to consume foods that were not suitable for me. This inconsistency is concerning.
Medical Consultation: After informing my medical state at time of admission it was neglected and was rushed some hours before my surgery which I feel negligence urge the medical team to better understand the psychological state of patients preparing for surgery. During my visit, I was offered the option to reschedule the surgery just 30 minutes before the procedure. Additionally, I received admonishments regarding lifestyle choices, which felt inappropriate given the context of our brief interaction.
I was forced and dimmed every time about the reading wat was collected with any gaps and it was insulting especially junior Doctor's , so request to train your Senior/junior Doctor to behave with patients and not dim them that not suit Lilavati standards. When Cross questions Doctor throw tantrums not good. Had worst exp stay in Hospital.
Communication on Risks: I believe that discussing potential risks with patients on the verge of surgery should be handled with sensitivity. Informing patients of risks while they are already in a heightened state of anxiety was disconcerting and could be perceived as lacking proper ethical consideration.
In conclusion, my overall experience did not meet my expectations, particularly given the high costs involved as compared with Hirandani etc. I believe it is essential for the hospital to reassess its pricing and approach to patient care to be more accommodating for...
