Visited Pali Bhavan on 04/03/2017 all the way from colaba with a friend for dinner.
While the ambiance and food was good what left me absolutely disappointed was the unfriendly and rude attitude of the manager on charge Mr. Sunny.
Used zomato booking to reserve a table a day before and promptly received a call from Mr. Morgan from the restaurant who was reconfirming the booking.
Having driven all the way from colaba i happened to reach @ 8:23pm ( because I took a detour to fetch a friend which could have been avoided if someone from the restaurant called to tell me they would release my table ) instead of 8pm and when I spoke to Mr. Sunny I was informed that I had to wait for another 30 minutes. When I asked him then what the point was in making a booking he replied in THE MOST UNFRIENDLY and RUDE MANNER " we hold the table for 15 minutes and then release it "
Now, having eaten at restaurants all over the world I can understand this policy and respect the same but what I cannot understand is why no one from the restaurant ( In spite of having my number ) called me to double check before releasing my table. Why didn't Mr. Morgan, who called me the same evening inform me ?
To spoil my mood even further and make things worse when i walked up to Mr. Sunny to ask him if I could speak to Mr. Morgan he says " DO YOU WANT TO CREATE A SCENE?" This did it for me and it totally spoilt my mood and i was unable to enjoy my evening and dinner at this restaurant. No matter how good the food and ambiance Maybe but such behavior and attitude by staff leaves behind a Horrible taste.
If this place wants to continue to attract customers what it needs is a serious attitude alteration by Mr. Sunny. I cannot understand how he can accuse a customer for wanting to create a scene when all I wanted was to speak to someone else to clarify why I never received a call in the first place before my table was released or why i wasn't informed about the same when I was called to confirm my booking. Highly unprofessional.
Will never be stepping back into this place ever again. Worst service experience ever and most unfriendly restaurant manager i have...
Read moreI just loved it from the start to the end. Valet Parking available, which is definitely required given the congested street. There are 2 outlets one for which I am writing the review the other is a Cafe called "Pali Cafe" which I will visit soon too.
As we walked the place was packed to capacity and thus we were asked to wait for sometime till the seats were being cleared. I also liked their thoughtfulness of providing the menu so that we can order as we wait. This helped us to get our order as soon as we are seated.
Try out the Kala Khatta if you are a teetotaller. I ordered myself a beer and Banana leaf Baked fish. Bengalis do eat a similar dish of Bhetki baked with Mustard but this one was Red snapper baked in a green chutney which was a combo of Dhaniya, curd and chilli. It was hot and totally enjoyed at my end and the quantity was good enough for a meal. Ideally to be shared between 2 person as 3 pieces are provided wrapped in bana leaf
For a change we also tried out a Veg dish called Besan Palak Kofta which was unique and extremely delicious . We ate it with Choora Paratha. The gravy had a liberal dose of Besan along with Kaju and tomato paste, while the Kofta was made of Palak. I have to agree it was one of the best Kofta I ever had.
The staff was very prompt and helpful and I am...
Read moreI recently dined at Pali Bhavan in Bandra West, Mumbai, and I must say, it was an exquisite experience. The restaurant's ambiance transports you with its elegant and traditional Indian decor, making for a welcoming and comforting atmosphere.
I ordered the butter chicken, garlic naan, and steamed rice. Each dish was a revelation of flavors. The butter chicken was perfectly creamy, with a rich tomato base that was both spicy and sweet, enveloping tender chunks of chicken that were cooked to perfection. The garlic naan was a flawless companion to the curry, with a buttery texture and just the right amount of garlic to enhance but not overwhelm. The steamed rice was light and fluffy, the perfect base to enjoy the flavorful curry.
Accompanying my meal was a glass of Indian wine, which was of outstanding quality. It paired beautifully with my meal, enhancing the flavors with its crisp and fruity notes.
Pali Bhavan not only impressed with its food but also with its attentive service and warm hospitality. I highly recommend this gem to fellow travelers and locals alike. Whether you're a fan of Indian cuisine or looking to try it for the first time, Pali Bhavan is a must-visit when...
