On the weekend, We droppped by the newly opened outlet of Ramashray in Charni Road for breakfast. We have been to the Matunga outlet several times & had a benchmark in mind which made a few things difficult to enjoy knowing how good they really are! Nevertheless, I'll try to be as "non-biased" as possible. Dishes: 1. Idli ❤️: Idli was super soft & just melted in the mouth so this is definitely recommended. 2. Ghee Sada Dosa ❤️: Crispy dosa made with Ghee. What more do you need? 3. Ghee Masala Dosa ❤️: The masala used was simple & flavourful. Definitely better than most Masala Dosas I have eaten in Mumbai. 4. Ghee Rava Dosa 🔥: I think this has to be the best one on the table. 5. Filter Coffee ❤️: Filter coffee is never consistent in any of the outlets. However, the coffee that day was delicious. 6. Pineapple Sheera 👎: The pineapple sheera was the one thing which was far better in the matunga outlet compared to this one. There were very few chunks of pineapple and the dish was sweet without any flavour of the fruit. Not recommended in the Charni Road outlet. I always take an extra Sheera to go but I didnt feel like finishing this one itself. 7. Saambar 👍: I am mentioning this because Ramashray has one of the best saambars I have tasted. However, the one here was a little tangier than usual for my taste pallete compared to Matunga. 8. Coconut Chutney ❤️: Pretty good and we ended up ordering more. Verdict: I am a big fan of Ramshray and it will always be my go-to place for south indian food in Mumbai. Eating out is like a privelege for me (A Married Man 😆), So I want it to be great each time. The new outlet is pretty good if not better however, both have their ups & downs. In the end, it all boils down to Taste & Quality of the food and in that aspect, both the outlets are a big thumbs up! Hope this helps you!

This was my first visit to Ramashray charni road well it was a mediocre experience wait is around 5-15 mins . outlet looks good food is affordable but is it worth it ? let me break down it for you I've never visited matunga outlet but I'm planning to since it's the OG and people who visited both the places said this place has a lot of room for improvement and needs to do better as compared to matunga outlet . prices are budget friendly must say ! some dishes was nice but some were .... we found 2-3 hair inside the utensils in which our food was served . one of the hair was spotted right in front of waiter he changed the utensil but later on it was found in dosa , we didn't reported it . I think podi dosa or idli or basically anything that comes with podi should have more ghee since it was dry, very dry . filter coffee was good , onion uttapam is recommended from my side - it was nice . although everything else we ordered tasted average . I had an average experience so did my friends tho they promised me that matunga outlet is best and we should totally go there . If I do I'll make sure to drop one review there as well . thank you !

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A South Indian Gem at Charni Road Ramashray is one of those places that keeps it simple but delivers big on taste. It’s a small, no-frills South Indian eatery right on Charni Road. Parking isn’t the easiest, and there’s no AC, so if you're visiting in the summer, be prepared. The seating is spread across different levels, which adds a bit of character to the place. Now, let’s talk about the food—because that’s where Ramashray truly shines. Everything is made fresh, so there might be a wait, but trust me, it's worth it. The Tatte Idlis, Medu Vada, and Dosas are spot on! The Uthappam is delicious, the filter coffee is just what you'd hope for, and while the Benny Dosa didn’t quite hit the mark, it’s a minor miss in an otherwise fantastic spread. Oh, and you cannot leave without trying their Mysore Pak—it literally melts in your mouth. And the best part? The prices are unbelievably reasonable, almost like street food rates! Bottom line: If you love South Indian food and don’t mind a casual setup, Ramashray is a must-visit. Great food, great value—what more do you need?

Ramashray New Charni Road Branch

I recently visited the newly opened Ramashray branch at Charni Road, Mumbai. While the overall experience left much to be desired, there were a few notable highlights.

Starting with the positives, the waiting staff were young, cheerful, and very helpful. Their friendly demeanor and genuine smiles stood out, and I’d rate their service at a respectable 3 stars. Unfortunately, the ambiance and service speed failed to match their enthusiasm.

The place itself had nothing remarkable about it—no standout decor or welcoming vibe. We ordered a staple South Indian spread, including Masala Dosa, Rava Masala Dosa, Medhu Wada, Upma, and Buttermilk. The food was enjoyable and maintained the standard quality you’d expect from such a restaurant, deserving a decent 3.5-star score.

However, several drawbacks brought the overall rating down to a mediocre 2.5 stars:

Slow Paced Service: Despite the courteous staff, the speed at which the orders were processed and served was frustratingly slow.

Lack of Tissue Paper/Napkins: A small yet essential detail that was overlooked and contributed to the inconvenience.

Uncomfortable Environment: The air conditioners weren’t functioning, and the ceiling fans didn’t suffice, leaving the restaurant hot and stuffy.

In summary, while the food and friendly staff had potential, the sluggish service, missing basics like napkins, and uncomfortable environment need significant improvement to make this location...
