The Taj should be embarrassed by this restaurant. Full of mosquitoes, hot, uncomfortable seats, dirty, impractical tables… the ambiance was a major red flag. But I grew up visiting the Shamiana in Colaba and still feel nostalgic about The Taj brand, so we stayed on. We were there late, so just ordered a coffee and Tiramisu. The French Press coffee was thick and had way too much body for black coffee. Couldn’t figure out what was going there. The taste was more Hazelnut than anything else. Awful. The Tiramisu was just shocking. It tasted of raw egg and cream cheese. Couldn’t get to the layers of biscuits cause it was served in a jar. It tasted as if it had gone bad in the refrigerator. We had two bites and sent it back. The server got us another one though we explicitly asked them not to. He said it was freshly made; how is Tiramisu freshly made baffled us so we didn’t touch it. We do appreciate it that we weren’t billed for inedible desert. Strongly suggest they take the Tiramisu...
Read moreThis is the third time I visited this restaurant with friends and family. I go there only because the restaurant is near to our house and many of my friends and family come to try this restaurant at the new Taj The Trees in Eastern Suburbs of Mumbai. Spread of food is fine but most of the food is tasteless and bland. It may be more ideal for foreign customers. And, I am not expecting the food to be spicy but the basic tastes of curries, etc. is tasteless and miss the right spice. On Sunday brunch dt. 9th March, 2025; even sev puri was NOT tasty which used to be good earlier. Hummus in the buffet was pathetic and not good at all. Quality of food is great but absolutely tasteless and not worth the price. And everyone who accompanied me had the same exact view about the taste of food. Taj management should really do...
Read moreWe were a.family group of 5 and had a great Sunday lunch at Shamina, restaurant at Taj the Trees as Vikhroli. My elderly parents have limited mobility but the hotel staff took good care including arranging a wheelchair for my mother. We tried the buffet spread and there was a north-east India cusine focus that day. We tried most of the dishes between us and loved the variety as there was something great for each of us. For me, the Thukpa soup, Asamese dal with rice and baked gulab jamun stood out. Overall a memorable experience for my family. My appreciation to our table captain, Gaurab who took good care of us that day. And thanks...
