Tamarind Kitchen – A Vegetarian Delight with South Indian Soul

Tamarind Kitchen is a pure vegetarian multi-cuisine restaurant that excels in blending traditional South Indian flavors with a variety of global dishes — and it delivers on almost every front. From the moment we walked in, the welcoming ambience and calming decor set the tone for a pleasant dining experience. The setting is warm, modern, and family-friendly — ideal for a relaxed meal with loved ones.

Food & Flavors

The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the South Indian fare. We ordered Rasam Wada, Medu Vada, and Sada Dosa, and each dish was a testament to the kitchen's authenticity and attention to detail. The Rasam Wada was bursting with tangy, spiced flavors — comforting and soul-satisfying. The Medu Vada was crisp on the outside and soft inside, just as it should be. The Sada Dosa was light, evenly roasted, and paired beautifully with the condiments.

What truly deserves a special mention is the chutney and sambar served alongside. The chutneys — coconut — was fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor. The sambar had a perfect balance of spices and consistency, rich in taste without being overpowering — clearly crafted with care and a refined palate in mind.

From the international selection, we tried the Hummus Platter, Cheese Nachos Overloaded, and French Fries. Each of these dishes was well-executed. The Hummus Platter offered smooth, creamy hummus served with soft pita and accompaniments — a satisfying appetizer. The Cheese Nachos Overloaded lived up to its name, generously topped with melted cheese, jalapeños, salsa, and olives — ideal for sharing. The Fries were crispy and seasoned just right, a safe but comforting choice. Spicy Lotus stem and Ice filtered Coffee were top notch.

The only downside of our meal was the Four Cheese Pizza, which fell short in terms of texture and flavor. The crust lacked the crispiness expected, and the cheese blend didn’t have the richness or balance we hoped for. In contrast to the otherwise high standards, this dish felt a bit underwhelming.

Service

The service at Tamarind Kitchen was prompt, polite, and attentive. The staff made excellent suggestions when asked and ensured our table was well looked after throughout. Water refills were timely, and dishes were served at the right temperature and pace, which added to the relaxed and enjoyable experience.

Ambience

The ambience is tasteful and soothing, with a clean and modern layout. The restaurant feels equally suited for family dinners, casual outings, and small celebrations.

Overall Experience

Tamarind Kitchen stands out for its commitment to vegetarian cuisine, especially for those who appreciate authentic South Indian dishes with a modern presentation. The combination of flavorful food, excellent service, and a calm, elegant ambience makes it a great dining destination.

Yes, the Four Cheese Pizza missed the mark — but everything else made up for it. If you’re looking for a well-rounded vegetarian restaurant that delivers both comfort and culinary satisfaction, Tamarind Kitchen is absolutely...

Step into Tamarind Tiffin by Sunders, a pure vegetarian haven in Andheri west where India’s bustling street corners, homely kitchens, and inventive fusion labs come together under one roof. This restaurant is an ode to India’s diverse vegetarian cuisine — be it the tangy tangles of Mumbai and Delhi’s chaat, the buttery indulgence of North Indian tiffins, or the coconut-kissed comfort of South Indian breakfasts. The Place is spacious where the interiors blend modern comfort with peaceful and positive vibes — well-lit spaces, communal seating, and a clean, no‑frills aesthetic. A perfect place to dine with family members and loved ones. The menu is full of famous delicacies which would tempt you to go for all. Top picks • Golgappa Dhamaka : Popular mouth watering Delhi chaat - mashed potatoes mix with nylon sev along with spicy tamarind water and tangy imli chutney. • Sev-tastic : Fantastic fusion of Mumbai popular chaat with mexican topping of guacamole, beans, sour cream and salsa. • Dahi K Kabab : Outstanding version of Gujarat street food made of hung curd with Sour cream, onion tomato salsa. • Idli Shakshuska : Amazing South Indian fusion Soft idli topped with podi masala alongside tangy tomato sauce. • Stuffed Rawa Dosa : Signature South Indian reciepe small crispy rawa dosas stuffed with grated cocunut, capsicum and tomato with tasty chutney and sambhar. • Desi Vedesi Mazze Platter : 3 unique and delicious hummus (Thecha, Podi and Sundal) served with pita, soft falafel and lavash. • Filter kapi Tiramisu : South Indian filter coffee forms the base of this Italian-Indian dessert fusion. Surprisingly balanced and not overly sweet. • Pineapple Sheera : Awesome and yumm. All the preparation was top notch with taste, texture and presentation. Also their mocktails - Sweet sunrise and Anaari are flavorful and refreshing. Loved its Rasaam shots too - hot and punching. Knowledgeable staff who guide you through regional variations. Prompt and welcoming. This restaurant isn’t just serving food — it’s curating an experience. Whether you're a lifelong vegetarian or just exploring meatless options, this place offers depth, diversity, and delight in every dish. From chaat explosions to tiffin simplicity, from authentic classics to playful innovation, it’s an unforgettable gastronomic map of India. Tamarind Tiffin – Jeevan Nagar, Andheri West

Tamarind Tiffin is a newly opened South Indian-themed restaurant located in Jeevan Nagar, off Veera Desai Road, Andheri West. While the restaurant does not provide parking, you might be able to find a spot around the lane, so plan accordingly.

As you step inside, you’re greeted with aesthetic and luxurious interiors. The ambience is calming and thoughtfully designed — even the washrooms are well-maintained and stylish, which is a rare bonus!

Food & Menu

The menu offers a wide variety of unique South Indian dishes, with an interesting mix of Kerala and Mangalorean influences. Even the names of the dishes are creatively crafted, making the menu itself a fun read. They also offer well-portioned combo meals, which help avoid food wastage.

Here’s what I tried: • Khati Roll: Great presentation, but the paneer filling was too watery, making it a bit messy to eat. • Banarasi Baba: A unique and refreshing twist, somewhat like Ragda Patties, but beautifully presented and flavorful. South Indian Meal Combo (for 1) • Set Dosa with Stew: The stew was incredibly flavorful and comforting. • Appam with Mushroom Sukka: Perfect combo — rich in taste and satisfying in portion. • Kanchivaram Idli: Tasted good, although slightly on the sour side. • Filter Coffee Tiramisu: The star of the meal! A perfect fusion dessert and a great way to end the experience.

⚠️ Drawbacks • No parking facility, which could be inconvenient for some. • Staff knowledge about the menu is lacking — since many dishes are regionally diverse, some servers seemed unsure about the offerings. • Service was slightly delayed, which may affect the overall experience, especially during busy hours.

Final Verdict Tamarind Tiffin is a fresh and exciting addition to Andheri’s food scene with a lot of promise. The flavor profiles, creativity, and aesthetic vibe are commendable, but minor improvements in staff training and service speed would elevate the...
