Best part about working in Andheri West is that you have access to so many amazing places to hangout with family, colleagues, friends, etc. Every time you do some research and come across a place that you would want to visit. One such place was The Homemade Cafe. Located at Oshiwara Link Road, it is a small but beautiful cafe. Zomato needs to update the location of the restaurant, it is on the main Link Road and not one of the lanes as shown on the maps.
You can locate this cafe opposite Zoodles or near Oshiwara Police Station. The place has approx. 7 tables for seating. Beautiful entrance, glass door and big windows, yellow roses placed on every table. They have kept a rustic look and nice music. Perfect setting and looks beautiful in the night with all the lights.
The Homemade Cafe serves Italian and Continental Cuisine. They also are currently promoting the Monsoon Menu along with the regular Menu.
Heading to the variety of dishes tried at The Homemade Cafe -
We started with Soup and were suggested the French Onion Soup by the Chef! Just loved this one. Thick and creamy broth served with Crouton which tasted so yum! Would definitely recommend to try this one!
Next from the Fondue section we tried the Cheese Classic Fondue. Fondue pot had combination of 3 cheese - Parmesan, Yellow Cheddar and Gruyere served with croutons. Again epic and highly recommended!
Next from the appetizers or popularly called as Antipasti in Italian cuisine, we tried the Crispy Potato BBQ Sauce. Baby Potatoes grilled and marinated with BBQ sauce, tasted really nice.
To go along with food, we ordered for couple of mocktails and shakes. We ordered the Pina Colada, Virgin Mojito and Mocha Brownie Shake. Out of the 3, preference would obviously be the Mocha Brownie Shake. Being a coffee lover, the shake was rich and thick with brownie chunks. Pina Colada was good but had a strong flavour of coconut. Have tried this at lot of places where they try and keep the coconut flavour mild.
After this we tried the Homemade Greek Salad, a chef recommendation. Salad had veggies like Bell Pepper, Cucumber, Red Onions and Olives! I felt that Lettuce could have been a little more fresh. But the Salad was extremely tasty! I am not a Salad person at all, but if you are, would recommend to definitely try this one!
Moving to the mains, we had the Fusilli Pasta in Pink Sauce with Bell Pepper, Brocolli and Mushrooms, served with croutons and the Grilled Cottage Cheese Steak with Spaghetti Pasta and Pimento Sauce. Out of the two, I preferred the Pasta in Pink Sauce. It had a nice tangy flavour to it. Those who are open to trying different from the regular white and red pasta may choose this one. Grilled Cottage Cheese tasted nice with the Pimento Sauce, however felt the Cottage Cheese was a little too hard. The highlight for me in the dish was the Spaghetti Pasta, tasted yum!
The Homemade Cafe don't list down the Desserts and you need to check with the server for options. We were suggested plenty of them and we chose the Mocha Fudge Cake amongst all. Tasted amaing, looked amazing with Chocolate Sauce on top of it. However felt the fudge cake was a little too hard. On asking, we were told that the fudge cake has lesser amount of butter component in it because of which it was on the harder side. It is a good option, but those who would like to have something more soft should go for the Gooey Cake!
All-in-all had a nice experience at the Homemade Cafe. Some dishes were outstanding some were very good and some need minor tweaks. But definitely worth a visit and experiencing this beautiful small cute place in case you...

The ONLY reason I ended up giving a 2 rating was because of the cozy decor, otherwise it would have been a zero. I have been to cafes all over the globe, cafes boast their staffs excellent friendly nature and quick service of scrumptious food. This was nothing of that sorts. After reading how highly people spoke of this place, we ended up going there on an unfateful evening and it was the most horrible experience we ever had. We ordered chicken cafreal with fondant potatoes and a gourmet burger. I ask, how long does it take to prepare these two with half the tables empty? It takes 48 minutes! Note to the chef (if you have one) - cafreal chicken is supposed to be spicy , your preparation was a joke. It was bland, tasteless and difficult to digest with an odd smell coming from it. Also a quick tip, next time try to make the fondant potatoes cylindrical in shape with the edges being brown, NOT BOILED! The presentation was a whole different ballgame altogether. Moving on; preparing a burger is an art, when one takes a bite based on the placement of cheese, caramelized onions and the pickle along with the patty there should be a seduction of flavours in ones mouth. However, this burger made me question my long lasting healthy relationship with the dish. And as stated by another gentleman in his review the bacon on the side which we ordered with both the dishes were chewy and not at all fresh. We had asked the person who took the order to serve bacon strips not deep fried bits, then again he decided to serve how he wishes to. You ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you how much I love my bacon, but this was distasteful. The vibe that you wanted to create with the decor was not in sync with your food, and I would not like to visit you guys ever again. Your food which is your primary product for your customers, feels a combination of leftovers at home, which I would put together to make a meal, when I am not in a mood to cook or order...

The Homemade Cafe is located in Oshiwara Andheri West next to Oshiwara Police Station. They have a beautiful space in the heart of the city. The ambiance is what makes this place extra special. You get to see all of kind of crowd walking in and out of the place. Inspite of being crowded, they don’t hush and hurry with your service.
The sheer appearance of the place gives you very nice, cozy, positive and European kind of feeling. As the name suggests this cafe is very homely. It has a quite unique menu which is really delicious.
What we had:
Cheese Garlic Bread: Simply delicious with adequate garlic.
Hooters Style Chicken Wings with Sour Cream: Gives a balanced taste to the palate. Perfect thing to start your meal with. Really yummy and delicious.
BBQ Chicken Burger: Miss for me. Those who love KFC style chicken burgers then this is probably the best bet for you. It comes with mustard mayo dressing. They are also generous in putting chicken in burger which is plus for me, but somehow I felt the flavors are not suitable for my palate. Otherwise, a great burger to have.
Fettuccine Spinach in Onion Cream Sauce: The pasta leaves you wanting more. As it great blend of light, creamy spinach sauce with perfect quantity. Highly recommended.
Banoffee Pie: This is their signature dish and they specially asked us to try this. It was very impressive and texture is superb. Don’t leave the place without trying this.
Oreo Shake: Not a big fan of shakes. So, it was Okay for me, but good for consistency.
Overall, a place that surely needs your visit and is a hidden gem.
