Went to CCD Square in Cannaught place, block C. The 1st thing it doesn't show on google maps with the name of ccd square. There are 2 ccd squares one in c block inner circle, the other janpath lane. The menu & prices of ccd square vs ccd is different. They have positioned ccd square as a premium outlet & they maintain that the coffee beans used are different in the two ccd. I don't find any such difference. The 1st i went they ddnt even have water to give. 70% of the items given in the menu were not available. On selecting a coffee, you were told its not available. The server very rudely commented ki roz menu thode hi change karte rahenge ya yeh faad ke naya thode hi banayenge. Will someone tell them that there are other ways to communicate too. So we stepped out without having anything. Second time, had club sandwiches with cold coffee in white chocolate. Both were good though the sandwiches are pretty expensive. 3rd time, went at night. It was mostly empty. Ordered for a veggie soup in tomato base, the server said it was sweet nd salty. It was hopeless, all watery, no flavour & so terribly tangy that your throat could go for a toss. The manager later agreed that the server made a mistake but he was also like ddnt u read the menu. Ofcourse we did but the menu nowhere describes the flavour. Had that changed, which was a shade better than before but not good. Garlic Italian bread was not good either. All cold. The same cold coffee in white chocolate, i had that repeated from the last time since found it good. This time it was hopeless, no flavour. Had that changed too. Problem also is the service, they dont want to even take a feedback. And they call it the CCD SQUARE! I am a blogger on instagram & zomato as the @the_food_date. Read moreI specially sought out CCD Square at CP today because I used to be a regular here. It was the cafe that once introduced me to specialty, single-origin coffees from around India and the world. Today, not only does the ambience and menu look tired and worn out, but the service is atrocious too.
The menu looks like it has gone through years of negligence & Strong machine wash cycles. Our first few choices from it weren’t even available. Clearly, they can’t be bothered about printing a new one.
The wait staff talked patronisingly to me when I inquired about their specialty beans for a Flat White. Only one variety out of the three on the menu was available. Leaving me no choice whatsoever. When I asked why, he said there was no supply and went on to explain how changing the bean would have no impact; it would still be a Flat White. What then is the USP of a CCD Square — with its premium rates — over a regular CCD if one has no choice of specialty beans? And what kind of a cafe says that changing the coffee bean from a Mysore one to an Ethiopian one will have no impact on the coffee??
It got worse. He persuaded my partner to add chocolate syrup to her cold coffee even when she didn’t really want it — and then curtly said that would be an extra Rs 50. We repeated we didn’t want chocolate in our cold coffee. Five mins later, he returned and told us the machine had problems and there wouldn’t be any coffee for an indefinite period. There was no hint of apology or any promise about brewing us a cup.
We left without a single cup of coffee at what used to be my favourite cafe. An hour later, we walked into a fully thriving rival cafe that delivered our orders promptly and made no menu promises that it...
Read moreThe manager - Stuti is extremely rude. We took their huddle room for a meeting and firstly their charges on the menu were different than what they charged us. They charged us double. And then, the AC in the room was not working. We complained multiple times and they said a technician is working on it. But nothing and no one was working on it. Stuti was extremely loud and disrespectful when we were talking to her politely. She did not make any eye contact and was shouting when in fact our voice was low because there were other customers at the cafe too. She was also so rude that she started shouting at us and then called her area manager or ccd owner threatening us to wait as she is calling someone. And then when the person refused to come, she stopped talking to us. We asked her to bring her volume down as we are not standing on some street to fight, and she said without listening, ameer gareeb ki bat nahi hai, and we said let us finish what we are saying atleast. We are asking you to simply talk politely. We have a video proof of the same and ccd must have cctv cameras too. She was also extremely rude to her staff as well. And was talking nonsense in front of us saying mere staff ki badnaseebi hai ki mai inki manager hu, when we asked how is she the manager when she is so rude in such situation where she should be the one diffusing the situation. Please change the manager. This place is good, the staff is nice but the manager...
