Shiv's Veg & Proud — Restaurant in Panvel

Visited Shiv’s Veg & Proud on 18th April 2025 for lunch with five people, and I must say the experience was quite pleasant overall. The restaurant is located at Shop No: 1, Ground Floor, Good Will Infinity Building, Prime Mall Lane, Sector 12, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. The place is easy to locate, but parking is something you need to plan for. Although there’s a small parking space right outside the restaurant, it’s not sufficient, especially during dinner hours or peak times. I’ve visited this place earlier too, and once I had to wait quite a bit because the restaurant was full. I’d recommend booking a table in advance if you’re coming with family or friends, especially on weekends or evenings. Also, avoid parking along the roadside nearby — it’s a busy stretch, and the chances of getting fined or towed are pretty high.

Now coming to the food and service — since we went on a weekday afternoon, the restaurant wasn’t crowded at all, and the food service was quick and efficient. The staff, including the waiters, were polite and attentive, which really added to the comfortable dining experience.

We ordered a variety of dishes including Batata Vada Sambar with chutney (₹100), Tomato Onion Uttapam (₹160), 4 roasted papads (₹160), Dum Aloo Punjabi (₹270), Veg Kolhapuri (₹320), Curd Rice (₹230), 8 butter rotis (₹40 each), 6 glasses of chaas (₹90 each), and 2 mineral water bottles. The total bill came to ₹2247, including ₹107 in taxes, which I found quite reasonable for the quantity and quality of food served.

The Positive Side (2 Stars for Execution): Shiv's Veg & Proud delivers exactly what it promises on the plate: a wide array of high-quality, delicious Lacto vegetarian cuisine. The North Indian main courses and the popular street food items are prepared, fresh, and tasty. The ambiance is okay, suitable for a family meal, and the restaurant is noticeably clean. If judging purely on the food's taste and the establishment's adherence to its pure-veg promise, it would easily merit a higher rating. The Critique (The "Proud" Problem): My low rating, however, stems from the choice of branding. While it is perfectly acceptable and necessary for a restaurant to proudly stand by its vegetarian focus, the name "Veg & Proud" felt unnecessarily assertive and, frankly, a bit unwelcoming. In a country like India, which celebrates culinary diversity and where non-vegetarian food is widely consumed, leading with a name that implies a moral superiority or "pride" in one cuisine over another feels exclusionary and judgmental. It creates a slight sense of discomfort, suggesting the "pure veg" concept is a lineage to be overtly celebrated, rather than just a culinary choice to be competently served. Good location . FootFall is also vry good compare to the other Restaurants in Kharghar for Veg. This restaurant is so much crowded sometimes that people have to wait in a Queue for half n hr. They are much popular by their brand name and taste . They have a parking space as well. Me and my colleague had visited this place for Dinner on Sunday . Veg. Manchow Soup The cost for Veg Manchow soup is Rs.100/- , The order took nearly 15-20 mins for preparation . The Quality of soup was Good and was served with the accompaniment, only the main problen is with the Quantity it was vry less . Rating (3.5/5)

Veg.Combination Rice The cost for Veg. Combination Rice is Rs.210/- , This came on time after the soup . Accompaniments were served on the table for rice. The Quality of rice was Ok, hence it was Combination rice so it was Rice + Noodles mixed . Noodles were half raw and the Quantity was vry less .
