Went here for dinner and tried their Thali, which included Alani Khichdi. The khichdi was disappointing — no ghee, no shredded chicken or meat, just plain rice with a tadka of alani soup. It was bland and lacked the rich, traditional flavor you'd expect. The rest of the thali was average.
We’ve visited other branches before and had a much better experience. This one is said to be the main branch, but the food quality didn’t match up at all.
Service was poor too. The staff didn’t understand Hindi or Marathi, which was surprising for a place named Chul Mutton — an authentic Marathi name that should evoke a village feel, but sadly, the vibe and staff behavior didn’t reflect that at all.
To add to the frustration, I told them in advance that I’d pay via Zomato, and the staff agreed. But later, after I showed the Zomato payment receipt, they refused to accept it, pointing to a small board with fine print saying they don’t take Zomato/Swiggy payments. I had to wait for a Zomato refund and make a separate payment — the entire process took almost an hour...
Read moreIf you’re craving authentic, flavorful, and wholesome mutton dishes, Chul Mutton in Pune is the place to be! Their food is a true delight for anyone who appreciates traditional Maharashtrian flavors cooked with care and precision.
The mutton here is perfectly cooked—tender, juicy, and packed with earthy spices that give it a rich, homely taste. Whether it’s the mutton thali or the signature chul mutton, every bite is bursting with flavor. Their bhakri (flatbread) pairs wonderfully with the curries, and the sides, like thecha and sol kadhi, add a refreshing balance to the meal.
The portion sizes are generous, making it a great choice for those looking for a satisfying, hearty meal. The rustic ambiance and authentic cooking style, including the use of chulha (traditional woodfire cooking), elevate the overall experience.
If you’re a fan of spicy, traditional mutton preparations, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended for food lovers seeking a wholesome and authentic Maharashtrian...
Read moreA good place to be if you wish to dine in candle light and are happy to spend about 600-750 for two people. Personally, I feel the light, when its dark, is a little dim considering the way the lights and table arrangement is done. Food quality is no doubt good. Biryani is falvourful and not just hot and spicy as some other places have. Burning charcoal served on the plate gives a nice smoked smell to the food, apt to what the restaurant name says-"chul mutton"- non veg(mutton) cooked on stoves (chul)where charcoal/wood is burnt to have fire for cooking. Ambience is simple and serves the basic need, not very flashy. Simple arrangment where you can expect good food. Cleanliness is something that can be further improved, specially around tables placed in corners. Having a sack of onions placed right behind your chair is not very pleasing for a customer coming to enjoy a meal. Has washroom facility. A "good" rating for food quality and an "average" rating for everything else about Hotel...
