Shiv Sagar Veg Restaurant — Restaurant in Pune

A neighborhood favorite, but its quiet ambience and great food could make this place a destination for individuals or groups who happen to be near the airport.

I had a delicious combination of masala buttermilk and special-order channa masala, fairly dry as I had asked. I also had a most refreshing treat: halfway through my meal, a waterfall began to flow down the glass wall I was next to. I wonder if this happens every afternoon around the same time (3 pm).

The menu is incredibly large. Literally. It has 10 laminated pages and must weigh well over a kilo. Besides general Indian, there is south Indian, Punjabi, Chinese, Italian, and Mexican. There is quite a creative array of fusion dishes, including idli and paneer chilly, idli szechwan, paneer spring roll, paneer hong kong, and Chinese bhel.

I noticed some nice mocktail choices.Tea and coffee morning can be ordered from opening till noon, but not again till 3 pm and only up to 7:30. As a coffee drinker any time of day, this could have been a challenge.

My only other minor "minus" comment is that several waiters kept standing nearby and often looking in my direction. This made me feel a bit conspicuous. It could have been because I'm a Westerner, but still... When it was time to put out a tip, this was particularly awkward. Similarly, when I turned in my requested evaluation after the meal, I could tell it was immediately read...

Do not believe in reviews posted below. They are purchased one. Let me tell you the current condition of this restaurant as i visited it more than 10 times with friends, family and staff and now they are downgraded to one star or Even below performance.

Pathatic service, careless staff. Once upon a time this restaurant was good but now it's one among worst in Viman Nagar. Roties were burnt and on half of them butter was not applied. Crispy veg was not at all crispy and in the end hot chocolate brownie was burnt ... Even if you want a spoon, you have to ask staff many times. They will smile, say yes and then never come back.

In the end as i raised complaint against staff and services, the person taking payment tried to insult me and behaved like I'm a fraud and don't want to pay for the food. For 2100 rs bill he asked many times to check and confirm if i actually paid or faked the payment. He took it all complaints personally and tried to insult me in from of other customers (ofcourse tried to prove that their services are good and the fault actually is in customer) I have been to this restaurant many times...now everything is changed food menu, staff and even quality of food are changed...

Service is spot on. Food is just OK, nothing delightful.

One issue which played a spoilsport was houseflies all through the Restaurant. It was surprising to find this menace in these modern times, it is not too difficult to ensure this with all resources available. A customer expects basic hygiene while enjoying their food. Having to ward off houseflies while eating was quite irritating.

Portion size was quite small. In fact, Paneer Kadai was just sufficient for a single individual. We had to repeat the order for it was insufficient for 3 of us. Maybe this is to maintain price advantage. Paneer was not succulent as it should have been.

The only saving grace was Malai Kulfi. It was awesome.
