This place situated on Kothrud-Warje road, opposite to Mirch masala restaurant. Well I was already aware (after watching YouTube videos) that there is no point of having a barbeque in a misal house and owner (Mr. Bhosale) also kept it off with the reason of children safety, but he ensured that rassa (gravy) is served hot. Limited siting with 8-10 tables, so as we (8 persons) visited this place on Sunday, it almost took 40 minutes for us to get table. They charge 99 rupees and provide everything unlimited, except buttermilk and solakadi charged extra. Well as a family we visit many misal houses we not found the taste is so great, but serving is different and flexibility provided to individuals to make their own misal bowl. They provide four types of rassa (gravy) Nashik, Kolhapur, Puneri and Jain. Other ingredients like mataki, pohe, smashed potato, cutted onion and curd is served separately. The thing everyone of us liked is bread (pav & slice bread), they serve unlimited grilled bread. Now if I talk about taste Puneri rassa has good taste, Kolhapuri is made spicy by pouring lot of spice powder and taste really spicy. I personally didn't liked Nashik rassa and I have not tried Jain one. Overall good experience. Do not visit with too much expectations, but if you are going first time they will not...
Read moreGood place to eat misal with your close ones. The place is hygeinic. They serve good amounts of poha, matki and potato mash. They serve both bread and pav bun. There are 4 types of misal tarris(curries) ranging from sweet to hot and tangy ones. I personally dont like spicy food so I did not like this place(The sweet curry was too hot for me). The bread and pav buns are hot and smeared with butter. There are 4 to 5 tables available downstairs and I think there is also place to sit on another floor. We were 5 people and the tables can somehow barely sustain 5 people. I dont know why they call it 'barbeque misal' when the staff does not even light the barbeque. The curries were served hot but still we could not enjoy the 'barbeque' version. They serve curd and buttermilk as usual. Once those 5 tables are full, which get occupied fast, there is no option but to sit outside for the next customers. There is not much parking space available outside but it does not cause any problem as the road is long and one can easily find a parking spot. The staff is good and act fast. The taste and quantity is really nice. Would definitely have given 4 to 5 stars if they had lit the barbeque, had larger tables. Another reason for low rating is that the curries were spicy.(That is my personal...
Read moreTheir biggest USP is unlimited Misal Pav in ₹100. And I think that is pretty much it. The Misal isn't bad, but it wouldn't be my first choice if I had to pick a spot purely to enjoy Misal. This is the kind of place you pick when you are in a group, and want to eat a heavy lunch or something, taste aside.
They offer 4 different types of rassas with the Misal and these rassas are set in a BBQ style pit in your table. The one I liked and preferred to pour in my Misal was the Nashik rassa. The rest of the stuff is also DIY. You are provided with the Misal components at the table and you make it to your liking, and then mix and match your Misal with the 4 rassas.
To be fair, any Misal lover will tell you Misal doesn't need 4 different rassas. One is enough if it is well made and hits the spot. This is a novelty gimmick and it works only to a certain degree.
The setting and ambiance is decent, and the prices are all value for money. The food too is decent for what it is. Just that I have had better Misal Pavs in my life, and this doesn't...
