(a) Approach : After navigating a good thirty minutes through chaotic Ludhiana, we arrived at an oasis in the chaos, Bistro 226.Situated, amidst the famous Ghumar Mandi of Ludhiana it is one of the hidden gems of the city. I would recommend to travel in a chauffeur driven vehicle or to avail the valet facility.
(b) Ambience : Soothing with lots of greenery, nice plants adore the glass walls overlooking the rather chaotic ghumar mandi. Very tastefully done up by the Gill family. There is an option for sitting indoors as well as outdoors.Indoors,is lovely, however outside also the furniture blends well with the surroundings and a nice choice of lights which illuminate the restaurant on the dark.
(C) Military Association : The restaurant is owned by Brigadier SS Gill of 114 Medium Regiment.Displayed in a corner are his guns firing in the Kargil war. There is special mention of Ludhiana’s pride Flying Officer Nirmaljit Sekhon and another tank man from the Hodson Horse.
(d) Highlights : The dinner was scrumptious. We were a gathering of ten as we had gathered to celebrate my aunt’s birthday and for starters we had chicken tikka and vegetarian paneer starters. Portions were benevolent and served right from the oven which melted in our mouths. We had chilled corona beer with salted peanuts. For the main course we had a collection of breads, to include rotis, naans and Parathas. The mixed veg was devoured by the vegetarians and the non vegetarian guests relished the butter chicken. We ordered just about the right quantity to save ourselves from overrating.
(e) Recommendations : Thoroughly enjoyed , this is a hidden gem in the bustling Ghumar mandi. The Manager and staff were polite and courteous to us and served with smiles on their faces.
Would love to come back during my next visit, I would highly recommend for a visit , a date, friends and family.

Read moreA Plateful Of Hungary To A HUNGRY LUDHIANVI Its quite often that I visit this place for a quick cup of coffee, sometimes for some Mezzeh or their Burmese Khaosuey. and surprisingly this is the place where you fall in love with the food. Being a part of #Openmic at this wonderful place, I love the garlic bread being served with Pesto Rouge that is again an in house specialty. Renowned not only for food but also for the level of service and always SPOT ON. This is actually AN OASIS IN CHAOS. But actually, I was not expecting this Hungarian Delicacy being served so delightfully and authentically. For a common City restaurant, Lamb is always Mutton and even that either off the bone or Minced. But was surprised to find Goulash being served on the bone, with Carrots and Potatoes, a flavorful sauce consisting of Celery and Paprika with Pasta as the accompaniment. Pasta? Accompaniment? oh c'mon. But yes they serve Sauteed pasta along the goulash. And as always Nailing the Taste, Texture, & Aroma. Indeed a Must try. Wonderfully Crafted Hungarian goulash Bistro 226 Ludhiana is a must-try.
The dish itself shows the effort being put into crafting. and please note that the Lamb used is not the typical Indian curry drained chunks but is actually slow-cooked saddle meat. Well-done chunks clearly showcase the hard work behind the crafting. Cheers #TEAMBISTRO226. Wonderful work Sukhkaran Gill & Harpreet Gill. ALL THE VERY BEST & KEEP DELIVERING THE SAME TASTE & ATMOSPHERE.

Read moreWhen as a couple / family we can't decide where to go - then Bistro is our default option. Coz you just can't go wrong with the food here. Anything and everything you order here will be delicious without a doubt. I have been a routine diner her since the day they opened and in a decade and more, they have never ever failed to live up to the reputation of being Ludhiana's number 1 resturant.
The menu has a wide array of cuisines and dishes - from Italian to Mexican to Asian to Indian. It's difficult to pick a cuisine they specialze in as all of them are equally good. But let me list some of my personal favourites. In soups you should try the Crackling Rice Soup as it is a dish that you willl not see in any other resturant in Ludhiana. The Char Grilled Salad is a must try as well with its delectablly well balanced dressing.
For main course there is a whole bunch of options to choose from including some amazing pasta options, thin crust pizzas, rissotos, asian bowls and mexican items. Try their pan fried noodles - it's different from what others offer.
Service is top notch as well. Because neither do you have a waiter sitting on your head to order nor do you have to ask twice for anything.
If I am forced to find a fault it would be the location. It's not easy navigating the Ghumar Mandi traffic. But once you are there its a true "oasis in the...
