My recent visit to Saragarhi Sarai turned out to be a deeply disappointing experience. My wife and I, a newly married Sikh couple, were excited to stay here while visiting the Golden Temple for darshan. However, the staff's behavior shattered our expectations.||Upon arriving at the sarai, we were promised a room reservation. To our shock, we were denied the room later on the grounds that we were a newly married couple. I did provde our Adhaar cards but it wasn't enough and the staff even had the audacity to make an offensive statement questioning our authenticity as a married couple, saying "Eh guru da ghar hai paaji," implying we were not genuine.||We are deeply hurt by the staff's disrespectful behavior and their inappropriate comments, especially as Sikhs who understand the sacredness of a Guru's place. We presented over 4000 pictures from our wedding, where more than 300 people gathered, in an attempt to prove our marital status, but it fell on deaf ears.||I'd like to address the false behavior of Kulwant Singh, who initially agreed to provide us a room and then abruptly denied us. Such flip-flopping only added to our frustration.||It's worth noting that they requires a marriage certificate to accommodate married couples. Unfortunately, we were unable to provide one as we had been married for only 10 days.||This incident has left us disheartened and frustrated with the unprofessional conduct of the staff. Our intention is to share this review as an informational post to warn others about the potential mistreatment they might encounter at Saragarhi Sarai. Discrimination based on marital status is unacceptable, and no one should have to face what we experienced during our stay.||We hope that by sharing our unfortunate experience, other couples will be better informed when making choices about their accommodations.
