I was peckish and so nipped out to this recommended restaurant. It was dark, nothing much to see except lights and reflections in the lake, still it's a pleasant setting. The plastic chairs were a little low though and I'm six foot tall. Ordered french fries & coffee (Rs 80 & 70). Got my coffee quick but I was tempted to go and ask the owner if he was growing the potatoes for my chips. He wasn't of course and this was pretty obvious when the fries arrived (they were from a bag of frozen chips – lots of little bits you wouldn't get if you were doing fresh cut). Still I was hungry and so tipped tomato sauce all over them only to notice there was no cutlery was provided, time to get my fingers sticky. The coffee was nice.
Let's just be clear on the mosquito situation. They don't give Lake View a day off, they will be present, so wear repellent and a long sleeve shirt for a bit of protection. I also noticed one or two cockroaches too but this is a garden restaurant so you are going to get insects.
Once my order was delivered, I was forgotten about. There was no one about to attract the attention of and there was only one other table of 3 people of three present. After getting fed up, I left my money on the table and got up to leave, I noticed the server (and only one present) slumpt in a chair doing a crossword puzzle.
I was dragged back here in the morning for breakfast by a friend, and just opted for coffee and toast – I asked for my bill as soon as we were served. The coffee was okay again, but the toast a little stale, the too-big-for-one block of packaged butter (cholestral free) to be put on it wasn't nice at all, but then how could it be,...
Read moreA wonderful location, fresh food, and the nicest people! This was our favorite experience of our India trip so far. We stopped by to ask if they could teach us how to make a couple Indian dishes of our choosing, and they welcomed us into their kitchen and treated us like family. They gave us so much insight into how the dishes are made, and because they speak fluent English, we were able to share bits about our cultures. Eating the finished food by the lake was such a memory. Their sons are also so nice and let us light fireworks with them for Devali. Highly recommend you eat there and ask for a cooking lesson if...
