Suryamahal & Chandni — Restaurant in Rajasthan

While in town, I happen to be here, made a reservation two days in advance and it also happened to be our farewell-cum-my birthday dinner.

Our expectations with them were sky rocketing because of the name that they hold in themselves and with that in mind we had made a reservation for four last night on a Wednesday, 20th March,2019.

We were seated fine, starting with food, we skipped the starters and went straight with the mains, we had ordered for- TANDOORI RAAN- it didn't have any smoky flavor to it since its "TANDOORI" raan CHICKEN DUM BIRYANI- it was prepared dum phukt but again it lacked the authenticity of Hyderabadi flavours CHICKEN KORMA- somewhat enjoyable but not thoroughly! AND SOME BREADS

To be very honest, the first bite itself of the raan was such a mood off.

The same message regarding the food was also conveyed to Mr. Ankit, one of the stewards there.

They arranged for a brownie for my birthday, grateful for that but didn't solve the main purpose and intention of our reservation at chandni.

The service and hospitality was fine, but the food, it just couldn't reach our expectations one bit, as a maater of fact, despite asking for finger bowls, none was provided.

I also learnt from a VERY HIGHLY RELIABLE source that the food is prepared by trainees and not the actual chefs, now I have definitely have the answer to my questions regarding their half hearted preparation or rather attempts.

With big name comes alot of responsibility but the quality could speak only very little of the same. We came with a lot of expectations but left with utter disappointment!

Trust me the 2 stars are only for the hotel and ambience. I was very disappointed with Suryamahal. Firstly, they lied that that all their tables were booked and then when we called from a different number, we got a table of 8 and when we finally reached there, there were quite a few more empty tables. Huh? Small portions were expected but what was not expected is that I would be served plain rotis when I ordered butter rumali rotis and the staff would still insist that I could not see the butter! Invisible butter! Also, the koftas were hollow! Seriously? My kids rejected their iced teas because they lacked sugar. And the service was so slow, i think I aged waiting for my cocktail. C'mon, i don't expect this when I'm paying more than...

Suryamahal at The Oberoi offers an elegant dining experience with a warm and inviting ambience that sets the mood perfectly for a special occasion. We ordered the Paneer Tikka, which was perfectly grilled with a rich, smoky flavor and beautifully presented. A thoughtful touch was their complimentary achars and crispy papad, which added a delightful burst of flavor to start the meal. To our surprise, they served a complimentary birthday brownie, which was both delicious and a sweet gesture that made the celebration feel extra special.
