While our experience overall in gangtok was running towards minus 5, bakers cafe came to the rescue. I had already marked this place to visit here and we did!
It is a bit far from MG road but thats okay. It is a cute little cafe with a lot of bakery items for you to grab!
We tried: Raising muffin: they heated it up for us, I LOVED it. Others didnāt as much, but it was exactly what I needed to bring up my sugar (aka happiness levels)
Ginger lemon honey tea: we ended up having two of these. The first one, I didnāt know I had to stir the honey to be absorbed in the tea. In the second one I did that. In the cold winters of end December, this was the relief to the throats and the body.
Hazelnut coffee: it was nice, from what I heard from my friend.
Chicken Mexican pizza - Iāll give this 2 stars. I felt they donāt specialise with pizzas. The crust was market made. Didnāt feel like a pizza. However, the chef made it in the form of a Christmas tree, which was very creative and sweet!
Almond mocha pastry: average taste, I wonāt go back for it.
Agli olio pasta - they made it with penne instead of spaghetti. We had to almost redo the penne one for the taste by adding seasonings and olive oil.
Overall: I feel this place is more bakery than eatery. But you can pay...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis cafe has always been our regular spot, but todayās experience was quite disappointing. The server seemed unusually dismissive. We ordered Vietnamese coffee along with a few snacks. Since my companion is strictly vegetarian, I specifically asked the server if the coffee contained eggs knowing that traditional Vietnamese coffee sometimes does. Instead of giving a clear answer, she laughed at our question and even shared it with others, making fun of us.
Despite her response, the taste of egg in the coffee was quite noticeable. I went up to the counter to double-check, and the barista initially said it didnāt contain eggs. When I asked if they used a premix, she checked and we saw that the packaging clearly had a halal and egg symbol. When I pointed this out, the barista said we should have asked her instead of the server which was baffling. Shouldnāt the server know what theyāre serving?
Iāve always considered this place a favorite, but this kind of service, combined with overpriced premixed coffee and poor handling of dietary concerns, was really disappointing. Iāll definitely think twice before...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is just awesome!!! Baked muffins, warm and inviting ambience, fresh coffee beans and great service, this atmosphere really defines the Bakers Cafe. Order a caramel coffee and your favourite pastry and let the time take a back seat! Good to hang around with your friends or loved ones. It has a rich variety of baked items and confections. It is one of the old bakery in Sikkim. You can give pre-order for the cakes. The music is always on and adds to flavour of the place. In the case of price value it's just moderate. It has got branches in the locality of Gangtok as well as in Tadong Bazar. Warm wooden interiors give this cafe an old world charm. #Enjoy #Rock...
