We visited Colonel’s Kitchen on January 2nd, 2025, with high expectations, drawn by its promise of a premium vintage dining experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a major disappointment. Pros: 1. Ambiance: The vintage theme of the restaurant is elegant and well-executed. 2. Service: The staff was attentive and courteous. 3. Vegetarian Menu Options: A decent variety of dishes for vegetarians. Cons: Where do I even begin? 1. Food Taste: Pathetic and substandard. • Dum Aloo: The gravy tasted like raw tomatoes—completely unbalanced. • Dal Makhni: Lacked the richness and depth you expect from this dish. • Tomato Soup: Bland and flavorless. • Cheese Corn Balls: The only saving grace, but even these were just average. 2. Price vs. Quality: For the price charged, the quality of the food is unacceptable. This deserves a 0-star rating. Recommendation: I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. If Colonel’s Kitchen wants to live up to its premium tag, it desperately needs a talented chef—especially one who understands North Indian cuisine.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at colonels kitchen , and it was an experience to remember! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for a perfect evening. The staff was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring that every detail of our meal was flawless. They made excellent recommendations that truly showcased the restaurant’s menu. Speaking of the food—absolutely phenomenal! Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The grilled beef steak was a standout, with its perfect balance of seasoning and freshness. It’s clear that the chef takes pride in using high-quality ingredients. To top it all off, the dessert was divine. The gajar halwa was the perfect way to end the meal, and I’m already craving it again. I can recommend colonels kitchen anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. Whether it’s a casual lunch or a special celebration, this place is sure to impress. I can’t wait to return

Great ambiance and service. The food was good. I recommend the steak, which is very flavourful. The steak was well done (you'll probably have to request if you want it medium rare) The burger patty was delicious. The rest, however, was meh and came with delicious potato wedges. The grilled garlic and lemon fish were good, too. The sides could have been a little more. The fish and chips came with regular processed french fries, which was a little disappointing considering the price point. I would would have preferred some better "chips" Will definitely go once more to try the other dishes.

Our stay at the historic Tiverton Bungalow was an experience in itself. The colonial charm, the breathtaking views, and the warm hospitality made our stay truly memorable. But what truly elevated our experience was a dinner at Colonel's Kitchen.

The restaurant, with its vintage decor and cozy ambiance, perfectly complemented the heritage of Tiverton Bungalow. The staff, dressed in period attire, added to the old-world charm.

The food was simply divine. We started with the succulent Burrah Kebab, a perfect appetizer. The main course was a delightful surprise. The Pallipalyam Chicken, a local specialty, was cooked to perfection. The rich, flavorful gravy paired beautifully with the tender chicken.

To complete the meal, we indulged in the delectable Butter Chicken. The creamy, tomato-based sauce was simply irresistible. The soft, buttery naan was the perfect accompaniment.

The service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and efficient. They made sure that every dining experience was personalized and memorable.

A dinner at Colonel's Kitchen is a must for anyone staying at Tiverton Bungalow. It's a perfect way to experience the best of Ooty's culinary and...

Nestled in the heart of Ooty, Colonel’s Kitchen offers an authentic taste of India with a modern twist. As you step inside, you’re greeted by warm, inviting decor that reflects the vintage feel of a 142 year old bungalow in which it is located in. The menu features a diverse range of dishes, from the creamy, aromatic butter chicken to the perfectly spiced mutton chukka showcasing the culinary heritage of India’s regions.

The flavors are rich, with spices perfectly balanced to enhance each dish without overpowering the senses. The naan is fresh, fluffy, and a perfect accompaniment to the curries. Don’t miss the chef’s special biryani – a fragrant, flavorful rice dish that’s easily one of the best in town. Vegetarian options are plentiful, and the paneer tikka is a standout for its smoky, grilled flavor.

Service here is impeccable, with staff attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes. The restaurant also offers outdoor garden dining with the serene view of Ooty’s hills which adds a charming touch to the dining experience. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, Colonel’s Kitchen is a must-visit for anyone craving an exceptional Indian meal....

Colonel’s Kitchen – A Culinary Haven in Ooty

Nestled amidst the picturesque hills of Ooty, Colonel’s Kitchen is a must-visit for food enthusiasts and travelers alike. The restaurant combines a cozy, charming atmosphere with mouthwatering cuisine, making it a standout destination in this serene hill station.

The menu at Colonel’s Kitchen is thoughtfully curated, featuring a mix of local and global flavors. I tried their Kongu Mutton Biriyani , which was an explosion of flavors, perfectly complemented by their refreshing Nannari Sharbath . The Meen Moilee was equally delightful, with fresh ingredients and a homely touch that truly set it apart.

What makes Colonel’s Kitchen even more special is the warm and attentive service. The staff go out of their way to ensure a comfortable dining experience, and their recommendations were spot-on. The restaurant’s decor, with its blend of rustic charm and modern aesthetics, enhances the overall experience.

Whether you’re visiting Ooty for the first time or are a regular in town, Colonel’s Kitchen is the perfect spot to relax and indulge in great food with stunning views. Highly recommended for a...
