Place was a bit small and tooo many tables were adjusted there Floor has approximately 20-22+ tables which can serve 80-90 people at a given point of time, based on this washbasin area is relatively very small. I could see only 3-4 people taking orders to serve ~90 customers. I could only see 3-4 people serving 20-22+ tables. Waiters asked me not to occupy a specific place because it was occupied and the customer is in washroom then asked me to sit at a table which was not clean, after a minute they moved me to the initial table again. For 5-6 mins no one came to take the order, this is still acceptable. Ordered Chicken fried rice, Dragon, Chicken and Talapakatti Mutton Biryani. Dragon chicken was very nice, well cooked, exactly sufficient spicy but served in a partially damaged plate, without ketchups, salt, pepper, salad. There was a glass lying on the table used by previous customer, I've asked them to change it but no one took it, There was no water served, after asking for water they got the jar without glasses and they were about to serve in old customers glass, upon telling them again and again to get glasses they got a single glass for 2 people, again after few minutes after telling one more time to change the existing glass they took it finally but didn't get a new one for the other person, again after telling to get the glass thet got an empty glass and this time took the water jar to serve another customer without serving water in our glasses, this drama is just for water.. Served Chicken fried rice but there was no ketchup or neither gravy or raita along with it to eat, after asking them 4-6 times and I've stopped eating they observed it and got the ketchup. Ideally table should contain ketchup, salt, pepper, etc.. but there was nothing. The most famous Talapakatti Mutton Biryani was very tasty but Mutton pieces were undercooked. There are no spoons, forks, provided by the restaurant, I didn't even felt like asking because of the time they are taking to get something requested. Not a good experience, Food was okay okay like any other restaurant nothing special about this place. It would be great if restaurant adds some staff and increase the...

My experience at Dindigul Thalapakkattu Biryani on Mount Road in Chennai left me quite disappointed, despite a few positive aspects. While the restaurant had its merits, there were significant drawbacks that overshadowed the overall dining experience.

To begin with, I must acknowledge that the ambiance and services were impressive. The availability of parking facilities eased the hassle of finding a spot in a bustling area like Mount Road. The restaurant staff was attentive and courteous, ensuring a smooth and comfortable dining experience.

Now, coming to the food, I must admit that the Chicken Biryani was indeed flavorful and well-prepared. However, the price of ₹300 for a plate of biryani left me bewildered. While the taste was commendable, the exorbitant cost made it difficult to fully appreciate the dish. It's disheartening when an otherwise enjoyable meal becomes overshadowed by the shockingly high price tag.

I also tried the Mushroom Pepper Soup, but unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. The taste was lackluster and failed to leave a lasting impression. It's disappointing when a dish falls short of delivering the flavors one anticipates, especially when considering the price point.

One of the most disappointing aspects of the meal was the Mutton Liver Fry. The dish was nothing short of a disaster. The mutton liver pieces were rubbery and overcooked, rendering them almost inedible. To make matters worse, the dish was priced at an unreasonable level, further adding to the frustration.

All in all, while Dindigul Thalapakkattu Biryani showcased certain positive attributes such as good service and a flavorful Chicken Biryani, the negatives overshadowed the experience. The exorbitant pricing for the dishes, particularly the Mutton Liver Fry, left a sour taste in my mouth. If you're planning to dine here, be prepared to spend well over ₹500 for a meal, and even then, you might not find the overall value...

I have been regular to this place and have been giving 3 star just for their quick service in midnight.

But during my last 2 visits , I felt that this place is not worth what they charge.

I go there in midnight by around 12:30 am. Service guy serves worst Biryani and spoiled onion Raita with that. And let me tell you that spoiled Raita is a normal practice and only when you bring to their notice they will show that they don't know. But fact is that they knowingly serve this.

I had ordered Mix Veg and ordered mild spicy. When served, this was sweet. Again told them. And they took it back and brought back in 8 minutes. This time they just spiked Chilli powder and not even half spoon we could eat. I am posting photograph of original mix veg and post mixing around 20-30 gram of chilli powder. I called chef and he acknowledged that they just added chilli powder as we wanted spicy.

Ordered Green Salad and they told they don't have stock. Ordered Cold Drink and just after giving one can of sprite they told stock is over. Asking Mushroom , informed Mushroom stock is not available.

And at last they told " Don't come this place for vegetarian food. This place is only for Non vegetarians ".

I have been going there regularly with all my colleagues. Group size generally is 10-15 and I am the lone vegetarian. Now we all have decided never to visit this place which doesn't respect vegetarians and says not to come.

I hate...

If you’re in Chennai and craving an authentic and flavourful biryani experience, Dindigul Thalappakatti Biryani in Triplicane should definitely be on your hitlist. This legendary brand carries a rich culinary legacy dating back to 1957, when it was founded by Nagasamy Naidu in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. The name “Thalappakatti” — meaning “turban” in Tamil — was inspired by his iconic headgear, which has since become a symbol of authentic taste and tradition. What sets Dindigul Thalappakatti apart from the rest is their use of Seeraga Samba rice — a small-grain, aromatic variety that is locally grown and prized for its unique texture and ability to absorb spices deeply. The biryani here is not overly greasy or spicy, but rather perfectly balanced with rich flavours and fragrant rice that come together in every bite. It’s not just food — it’s tradition served on a plate. The Triplicane outlet offers a welcoming atmosphere, keeping true to the original taste that made the brand famous across Tamil Nadu and beyond. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, this place is a must-visit to experience a piece of Tamil culinary history.
