TLDR;I had low expectations coming in and was blown away by the passion fruit ice cream. Well worth the drive for this alone. The price is high for the size of many items, but is somewhat ok for the more complex flavored ice creams and falooda. Tried many items, but the only one that is worth it is the passion fruit ice cream. The service is also friendly.
5/5 - The mango and passion fruit ice cream is by far the single best item in the entire establishment. I love the passion fruit sauce, passion fruit seeds and passion fruit ice cream. It also has kiwi bits and coconut ice cream to balance the tartness of the passion fruit. The banana compote is also excellent. The passion fruit sauce could be reduced a tad.
3/5 - The Russian honey cake was ok- it was much better than I hoped. It wasn’t dry as saw dust as cakes often are in India due to lack of butter, egg, and wet ingredients. It is nothing like real Russian honey cake though. These have a rich and smokey flavor from the caramelized honey.
3.5/5 - dry fruit ice cream - has Spanish ice cream and another lighter flavored icecream. This was way to small in comparison to the dry fruit falooda, which costs 50 rupees more. You should get the falooda and not the ice cream. The best part of this is the Spanish ice cream. It tastes like a carmelized Rabadi. I’d get this as a scoop all by itself.
3.5/5 Also got a palada sundae (new and maybe seasonal??) - classic kerala dessert with a modern twist. This too had the Spanish ice cream. I understand why it was used as, palada is made with slowly cooked coconut milk and jaggery. It has palada pieces in the ice cream as well.
Many of their sundaes seem to have it as a base. If all of them have this same taste, things get boring. They should mention which ones have this as a base flavor as some of the ones like this Palada,...
Read moreI have been to 3 franchises of Fruitbae in Kerala. It's a very good group. The ambience is great in every franchise. And whenever I come to Chennai, I'm sure I will visit there. I would prefer you to go on a weekday morning or afternoon to avoid the crowd. Because during the weekend, especially in the evening, we have to wait for about 15-20mins to get a table after giving our name inside. The only problem here is the crowd on the weekend. So when the crowd is high, the time taken for your order will also prolong. Other than that, everything is great. Taste wise, all the dishes are Awesome. There is no compromise in quality wise also. The ice creams and milkshakes are thick. Some of the signature dishes like Blueberry Pull desert, Dry fruit falooda, Fruit shots, Russian honey cake, Fruit mix falooda, Tender coconut shake, Gulab jamun Falooda are some of the must-try dishes in Fruitbae. They have many varieties of milkshakes, cakes, juices, sundaes, shots, etc. The service here is also very good. And another thing is it's a little bit expensive. But if you ask my opinion, since the quality is not compromised, i would say, it's okay to have it. Since the demand is high, sure they won't lower the price. But my suggestion is they can give discounts on any occasions or some reward points for regular customers like me😂😜. I have attached the pictures in some of the signature...
Read moreWe sampled four dishes and would like to provide some honest feedback:
1.The Russian Honey Cake was delightful, with a taste that was both good and awesome. It melted in the mouth and is definitely a must-try here.
2.The Fruit Pafe stood out as the best dish among the four. It had a great presentation and was served in just the right quantity.
3.As for the Tropical Smoothie, rather than being named a tropical fruit smoothie, it could be better described as a tropical sugar smoothie. The excessive amount of sugar used leaves you feeling guilty afterward, and the irritation in the throat is notable. It's worse than consuming raw sugar and should be approached with caution.
4.The Fruit Gazpancho is essentially sugar syrup in disguise. Consuming it continuously for a week could have severe consequences due to the excessive sugar content. It seems the sugar is used to mask the tanginess, making it a dish to avoid.
Overall, the ambiance is pleasant, making it a great place to hang out. We kindly request the shop owner to reconsider their approach to serving dishes. Many of us choose premium establishments for healthier options, and serving dishes loaded with sugar under the guise of fruit names is disappointing and not what...
