Experienced a prompt service this time.
Stayed for a week. Didn't go as per expectations
Multiple cons over pros.
Pros: I really liked the ambience, infrastructure, dining options at 3 different restaurants, and warm departure along with a pleasant talk with Jasmin at the reception desk.
Cons: Check-in time is 2pm, but I was not given my room card key that time. I was requested to wait for few mins (10-15 mins) by the reception team as other folks had not checked out on time. They didn't contacted me and kept waiting. Had to inquire again 25-30 mins later to get the keys. Punctuality was expected here, or at least a warm check-in experience.
Once I had ordered for in-room dining during night time. I was asked to wait for 35 mins. After waiting for 45 mins, I had to ring them up again, and about ~50-55 mins, I got my order. Punctuality issue again, but the real problem happened when I saw that the physical invoice had wrong room number and customer name. Okay, I understand mistakes happen but they didn't rectify the invoice and strike-through it with a pen. That's not at all expected from a 5-star hotel!
Once I requested the reception team to send me the payment link on my email, to which they gladly said to process it in 5 minutes. I went to my room, and yes nothing happened even after 20 minutes. After phoning up (dial 0 from room phone), I was told they'll speak with the reception team and get back. Again, nobody got back for next 20 minutes. After waiting for over an hour, I had to phone them up and request them to transfer the call to the reception team so I can talk directly and understand where the issue is happening. The person who answered the call did actually send me invoice in under 5 minutes, while I was on the call. Not a great experience again.
1 night before checking out, I had cleared all my pending balance (food + stay charges). However, while checking out I was asked to clear the balance (same amount). This time, I was prepared and knew that such kind of things I might expect after seeing all the issues so far. Luckily I had taken screenshot of successful payment and showed it to them, after which they corrected it. That's extremely unlikely to happen. 8-12 hours should be sufficient for payment to reflect, and nonetheless the staff should take more care in checking and validating things.
Reception team will give priority to people who are checking-in over your requests/check-out. You'll be asked to wait.
I understand there was a natural calamity (cyclone) which had taken place a day before my check-in and thus Swimming pool was closed. So no complaints on that.
Overall, I felt majority staff did not provide me the warm experience and the experience did not meet the bar. Couple of staff did have great knowledge and hospitality skills, which is commendable, but overall it makes no sense to spend a premium price for an...

Got so much individual attention by staff at anise my fav restaurant. Saraswati warm welcome every morning ,Jayatri warm hospitality. Not just me n my husband his other colleagues who were staying there with us appreciated jaysri warmth n extra efforts to serve us the best. For me Mr kupuswami gone above n beyond knowing my likes and making sure everyday at every meal feeding with utmost care n affection just like mom.we were attended very well there by Shafi ,Suresh,dhanshekar n sweet guy jitendera.because of jetlag I was waking up early around 2AM n jitender made typical north indian tea for us with smile on his face. Chef A dayanan used to come check on us if we needed anything which was so sweet of him. Parul n Ansh bhatia were always on top of things making sure to help customize our orders based on our taste n gone extra miles to serve my fav north Indian dishes n desserts. Omg their Halwai is so authentic make awesome sweets.. Coming to the Taj club lounge my favorite escape from room n everytime I needed me time since my husband was working in room or away for work. Everyone there greeted us warmly n offered us tea coffee even at non lounge hours.Shiza became my n my husband favorite. A sincere girl always making sure of our needs whenever we were there.Manashi as well very professional n took good care of us. Napoleon n others as well. One girl named Sahar( if I remember the name right )at front desk got my attention as well she was very welcoming. I got hair cut by Jessica at salon n my husband as well.she did wonderful job. I don't remember all the names but everyone treated us very well. Housekeeping ppl were very efficient n always welcoming n making sure of we need anything or our room needs to cleaned . Overall, my experience at Hotel Taj Coromandel surpassed all expectations, leaving me longing to return for another luxurious getaway.
