This place is probably one the best places I've visited - and that's without counting the cost-effectiveness of the whole deal.
We stopped here on a recent road trip from Pondicherry to Madras, by chance, and we were very happy with the experience.
There has been so much thought put into tiny details, it feels like the owner didn't want to compromise on any aspect of the restaurant - from the fancy high-chair for our baby, to the minor touches and flourishes on the menu, to the mural on one of the walls, everything was really good - including the trained staff.
We wanted to try several things - so we asked for a Paneer starter, the chicken 'karandi', the mutton biriyani, a rava dosa, an onion oothappam, and some kal dosa. We also asked for a chicken curry to accompany the dosas, and we were impressed with every dish.
The rava dosa was made very hole-y and crisp, it was fantastic. The biriyani had an egg made into an omelette and then shaped into a ball - instead of the traditional boiled egg; plus, it came with kesari, which was a delightful surprise.
For dessert, we tried the Falooda and the Jigarthanda; like the waiter informed us, the Jigarthanda was not like the original, but it was fantastic in its own right.
Service - from the start to the finish - was top notch.
If I had to force myself to list down possible improvements, I might request the restaurant to copy-check their menu card - minor spelling and grammar errors, but I'm nitpicking now. It was nothing...
Read moreHotel Honey Spice.! This hotel is located in Urapakkam on GST Road. Visible from a long distance as well. They have a ample car parking space in front of the hotel as well. Hotel is present in first floor and basement has two-wheeler parking. Ambience of the hotel make you feel good.! They welcome you with a warm greeting. They have a capacity of 100+ eaters at a time with more than 20 tables. As a welcome note, they provide you a welcome drink and fryums, not sure how many hotels have such practise. Appreciate this. Coming to the food, have tried both veg and non-veg. Starters are soo good and they are value for money. Have tried Gobi 65, Vazhapoo vadai, spring roll, Chilli Panneer in Veg and all of them are good. Non-veg starters, i dont want to specify but all were good. Coming to the main course, briyani's are good but am not a great lover of this chennai briyani which is made of basmati rice. I prefer for jeera samba rice which has a different taste which is far far better than basmati. Gravys and bread items are good. Quantity of the masala or gray provided is of good amount as most of the hotels doesnt have the generous to provide such amount. Their lemon juice is a must try in juices and carrot halwa in deserts. Overall a good restaurant, but they have make some changes to survive as neary has been occupied by Sangeetha, Dominos...
