Perched atop the verdant hillscapes of Coonoor, Hopscotch is more than a mere watering hole; it is a haven for the connoisseur of fine spirits and the epicurean at heart. My visit to this charming pub was a quest for solace, and what I discovered was a retreat that offered a panoramic view of the town, reminiscent of a scenic postcard.
Hopscotch's drink menu is a delightful odyssey, featuring an extensive selection of beers and spirits to suit every palate. Whether you fancy a robust stout or a smooth whiskey, they have you covered. Their wide array of salads, boasting fresh local produce, alongside a mouth-watering assortment of pizzas and other cuisines, can cater to a smorgasbord of tastes.
What truly sets Hopscotch apart is its fusion of leisure and luxury. With activities like snooker and billiards, the pub becomes an enclave of relaxation and recreation. It's not merely a place to dine; it's a venue to unwind, challenge friends to a friendly game, or simply revel in the tranquil ambiance.
The pub's interior exudes warmth, drawing you into its cozy embrace with comfortable seating that invites long conversations and lingering glances out onto the serene town below. The amicable staff add to the pub’s allure, navigating the bustling environment with smiles that are genuine and service that is seamless.
Among the many diligent faces, Muskan, a trainee from Siliguri, West Bengal, stood out. Her demeanor was not just friendly but also exemplified the cooperative spirit of Hopscotch. Her attentive service and amiable nature greatly enhanced the dining experience.
In essence, Hopscotch is a symphony of excellent gastronomy, breathtaking views, and conviviality, all set against the tranquil backdrop of Coonoor’s hills. It is a must-visit for anyone looking to savor a slice of...
Read moreI have always believed that the courtesy which the staff extends to you either at a hotel or a pub is a critical component of the entire experience. Unfortunately, this is something which the organizers at 'Hopscotch' appear to have hopped, skipped and conveniently jumped over.
A customer, typically a tourist who is new to a place, would naturally have questions, much like I did. I walked up the flight of stairs to ask if they would accept payments by any of the online payment wallets. A typical and welcome response in the affirmative would have yielded, "Yes, we do", or in the negative, "No, we sadly don't".
But the bartender to whom this question was posed, appeared to take offence to the very question itself, and with a sweeping gesture of his hands replied in a condescending manner that "Only cash, and card payments are accepted", insinuating in many ways that I should make an exit and that my presence isn't welcome. I politely smiled, and walked down the flight of stairs again knowing that I saved myself the experience of dining there. Surprisingly, I might add, none of the staff attired in suits even bothered as to why I went back dejected.
So, if you are someone, who values the finer things of a dining experience and can look beyond the music, the dance and the glamour on the outside, perhaps you may want to reconsider visiting here.
Ps: I am compelled to put a star rating to be allowed to post this. Certainly after my experience, I wouldn't be...

Hopscotch in Coonoor is a cozy and vibrant pub that stands out in the hill station’s nightlife scene. It offers a well-curated selection of drinks and a stylish ambiance, making it a good spot to unwind.
The pub has a rustic yet modern feel, with warm lighting, wooden interiors, and a relaxed vibe. Whether you’re looking for a casual evening with friends or a lively night out, the place delivers on atmosphere. The music is good, though it can get a bit loud during peak hours.
Coming to the drinks, the cocktails are well-crafted, with a good balance of flavors. Their signature cocktails are worth trying, especially for those who enjoy unique twists on classic drinks. The beer and whiskey selections are decent, though nothing extraordinary. While the drinks are enjoyable, the pricing is on the higher side. Given Coonoor’s laid-back charm, the cost feels slightly steep compared to other places.
The food menu complements the drinks, but portion sizes could be better. The service is friendly but can be slow when the place gets crowded.
Overall, Hopscotch is a stylish and lively pub, ideal for those looking for a fun night out. While the drinks and ambiance are great, the high prices might make you think twice about...
