BEWARE AND CAREFUL!
Based on the +ve reviews, we selected this place but turns out to be our bad decision.
In short : *Little bad attitude from the person who was taking order & billing and cooking person as well. *If you are planning for take away and requesting for add-on over the pizza/anything, make sure to check the parcel before you pay - whether they had added whatever you asked for. ( they took money without adding mushroom's(add-on) over the pizza and when I checked & asked for - they returned the add-on money in cash). This is totally waste of time for both and trust issues. *Taste is okay, not great for that money.
Items: Garlic bread - very salty. Two pizza's - both are okayish. One pizza(bbq chicken I think) had little weird taste, not sure if its because of the cheese.
if you have time, plz read below,
In detail: Our family with kids(were very much hungry after roaming SIM's park), eagerly selected this place based on the +ve reviews and this is what happened. This place is located in the first floor, there we have other small outlets in the ground floor as well. When I entered the shop and wanted to order food - there was a person who pointed out the menu in other table and asked me to check. The interest which I had over the place was lost by 'the way he pointed the menu and he treated me'. Bad attitude and not a responsible way to approach customers. Anyways since I promised my kids about pizza, I had to order something. I ordered two pizza's and asked for mushroom add-on(he mentioned about extra money and I agreed) + garlic bread and he accepted the order and asked me to come after sometime. I had the gut feeling that, this order is gonna mess up somehow. When I returned to my wife, I told her - I am not happy with those ppl, so for emergency lets have something else also and not to depend only on pizza's. She told, why do we need to order extra, I said - I have the gut feeling - it might not work. So lets have some chai or sandwich. We ordered little snack from the ground floor shops(didn't check the shop names) and it was delicious. After about 20+ mints, I returned to 'Open kitchen' --paid the bill(paid for add-on) -- took the parcel--returned to car-- when I checked the items in the car, addons were not there--again returned to the shop climbing first floor and asked--here again 'the way billing person and cooking person behaved literally showed they didnt forget the add-on'. The cooking person said, 'give me the pizza, I will add and cook it again'. I told to cooking person, 'how come it will be good now', for that he replied 'that's how it will be done, then wat'. Billing person stopped him and returned the money for add-on. I asked billing person to kindly check the items before handing over to the customers and left the place. ( Later I told to my wife, see - my gut feeling was right).
Overall, if the owner/management is reading this review - kindly take a note - so that your business is not affected. Its not about whether the money is huge/small, its about trust and customer service. Hope you can understand the intense on what happened on that day, which pushed me to write this review. Thank you...
Read moreI came across this eatery while browsing through the list of restaurants in Coonoor on Google Maps. The interior of the place caught my attention, but the burgers on the menu are what enticed me to visit. I went on a weekday a little after lunchtime, and the place was empty, which allowed me to have a closer look at the posters that adorn the walls. There are a lot of movie posters that tell me that the owner is a movie buff like me. The sitting area is not very large. There are five tables with benches that give it a dining hall feel. A spectacled man sitting near the cash register was the only person in the room, so I assumed he was the manager. I told him I'd have a beef cheeseburger, and he shouted out the order to someone in the kitchen. Different, but acceptable. Maybe that's why it's called "Open Kitchen." I imagined something else. There is a washroom, which is good, and I noticed it was pretty clean. The burger arrived after some time in a basket with a side of fries. I asked the manager if they served any drinks, and he said they only have Pepsi, which I don't like. I'm a Sprite/Mazza kind of guy. The burger looked great with a layer of cheese and some vegetables. After biting into it, I realized the bun was a bit crispy. The beef patty was not of the highest quality but was juicy and tasty. Eating burgers is usually a messy undertaking, much like egg puffs. The fries were pretty average. While I was there, two people walked in, a young guy and a teenager. It was hard to decide if they were locals or tourists by the way they were talking. I think they settled for a pepperoni pizza. Yep, the tables are close. Easy to overhear conversations. I was full after finishing the burger, but my Italian blood was pining for some coffee. The burger cost Rs. 330. Not bad. I would go back to try other burgers...
Read moreThe service at this place was absolutely abysmal. The staff were so lazy they didn’t even bother to get up from their chairs to attend to us. Despite the restaurant being completely empty, it took 10 minutes and repeated requests before anyone came to take our order. When someone finally did, they lazily shouted from behind the counter instead of approaching our table.
While the pizzas arrived on time, they forgot the fries. When we reminded them, the staff rudely asked, “Which fries did you order?” To make matters worse, the pizza bases were awful, resembling a dry chapati. We had also ordered two Cokes, but someone from the neighboring shop (likely run by the same owner) approached us mid-meal, trying to force us into ordering their overpriced, mediocre house soda for ₹180.
To top it all off, after the meal, we had to go to the counter ourselves to request the bill. The staff there didn’t even have a proper record and asked us to list out what we had ordered so they could prepare the bill. After paying, we were told that the soda had to be paid for separately at the neighboring shop. When we went there, the person tried to push us to buy more of their display products instead of simply settling the bill.
This was an appalling experience from start to finish. Open Kitche has completely lost its old charm, and I wouldn’t recommend...
