Rejoinder to Mylapore Kitchen(MK)’s response of 23rd Nov 24:
Thanks for response, and additional reply that’s albeit, patently presumptuous.
Order number: 42014 of 16th Nov’24 Items: Mango Thokku, Ginger green chilli Thokku, Idli powder-spicy, Curry leaf Thokku Amount paid₹1285( including a shipping fee of ₹250, a near 25% of the product price!)
None of the items have the contents of product weight, price, date of mfg, best date to use by/ expiry date.
Same was brought to the notice of MK by an email on 18th Nov ‘24. So far there was no response.
Nor was there any mention of FSSAI Number, it’s validity, ingredient list, nutritional value, even in the MK’s additional reply!
IMHO, MK has an option to provide innovative compelling value proposition or at-least emulate better of the practice @ well known entity in the very segment of homemade foods business with freshest ingredients, in small batches, handmade, that’s offering delicious, fresh offerings, with better shelf life , with free shipping for any order value beyond a certain point, with 30% cost effectiveness of its products & is also responsibly responsive.
This is with an assumption that MK is interested in the customer & her business.
May be MK can consider catering to diverse segment of customers by offering Mango Thokku- Spicy One just as you have Idli powder-Spicy one, though we need to taste other products.
It’s the prerogative of the customer to share one’s experience on a forum of one’s choice and at a time of one’s convenience.
Review is re-rated based on sum experience of this initial purchase, spanning, product quality, taste, price, value, response rates and nature of response, in toto.
In essence our experience has eminently validates our considered, just conclusion, I.e “Nothing to rave about”.
Original review of 23rd Nov ‘24: Ordered items are delivered promptly, but the delivery charges are v steep than with similar such leading home foods firm. Please consider free delivery option for purchases beyond ₹800. Mango Thokku is v mild, not spicy. Food products to be labelled with the following basic information: Price of the product, weight, date of manufacturing, best date to use by, ingredients used, nutritional information, FSSAI Number, validity etc. None of the above basic info is available on the product packaging. Nor was there any response or an acknowledgment to an email that was sent to their published email. Prices are very steep, atleast 30% higher than leading suppliers of such homemade foods ( who themselves have priced so steeply!). Overall, in terms of value, response rates, and taste, it can be tried once. Nothing...
Read moreHi there, this is the first time I have decided that I needed to write a google review. Must say that this particular brand has been so hyped by social media influencers and also with its strategic brand naming having Mylapore, it automatically draws good level of attention. I succumbed to the same and requested my parents to buy their products while they were visiting me as I don’t reside in India. My parents didn’t have a good experience in their store to begin with even, since the ‘Owner’ seemed pretty cold unlike the warmth she radiates during instagram lives with accounts like mylaporeiyeraathuponnu, neeskitchen etc. My parents wanted to know if it was worth buying the snacks and they were making so requested to taste atleast one of the products and it was a strict no to it. Would she do the same had it been one of these influencers? ;) Moving on to their wonderful line of products. My parents spent about 3000 INR for supremely spicy and flavorless instant mixed. The Khichdi instant mix as they call it has been one of the top terrible things I have ever tasted in my life. Barely when you open the pack you see a million pieces of chopped chillies, but I still proceeded with cooking it. Believe it or not it had absolutely no flavor other than the chilli. Next is the rava upma mix, also barely any flavor but a chilli punch. Maavadu was hot but atleast not as dull in flavors. Could further describe all their other products we tried but it’s all in the lines of 0 flavor and crazy amount of chillies. I do understand from the owner’s instagram handle that she loves chillies but this amount would actually transport you to another world of hell. What was interesting was that despite it being an instant mix, one needs to head to their homepage in order to get the cooking instruction :D if only we could do that every time after a long day? Super sustainable and smart solution you could say. Further adding another feather to their product characteristics, the Khichdi mix for example, there’s a proportion of water that needs to be added but no cooking time. How convenient ? ;) Needless to say, I’m never buying their products again or recommending anyone to do so. That’s 10 whole minutes I wasted typing but totally worth it! Consider changing your name to Kolli kaaram kitchen instead of Mylapore...
