Sir/Madam Today morning at 5.30 am approches the Egmore station opp hotel cashier for Pongal parcel since my train Tejas depart at 6.00 am. Cashier told it will take 15 minutes since food is getting off load from the van. Request him that kindly do the needful for give one Pongal parcel on priority once it is off loaded, after that left to ATM and came at 5.45 he said the same story that it will take another 10 minutes, then left and came again and request him and he finally accept to bill along with me one more customer around 70 years old also requested for Pongal and he also like me to catch the Tejas train at 6.00 am. Our request and feedback are as follows. It is hotel industry and first of all trained staff should be appointed to maintain the reputation. If the customer is requesting something, staff should be do the needful or atleast he should act that he is considering the request. Cashier is very adamant and he don't want to accept our request. This is an attitude issue I am 52 years old and more than 30 years in Admin related profession. along with me sr citizen with high pressure for catching the train. It was unfortunate your cashier never bother and he simply said that if I raise the bill automatically parcel will happen. Our request was that we want to catch the train hence kindly inform your staff accordingly but your cashier denied our request and put us on high stress in the morning. At last we got after request in hindi to other staff who is doing parcel and bearer job. My bill for Pongal is No1 and No 2 is Sr citizen, I have allow the parcel man to give him first since both of us ordered the Pongal and I know how difficult to catch the train by sr citizen at last moment. I have received my Pongal parcel and noticed that sambar was missing, immediay asked the cashier about this, his reply was very interesting, sambar will take some more time to (Ooruvatharkku) in Tamil. I get annoyed on his answer and checked with parcel person for sambar immediately he given the sambar parcel. Poor Sr Citizen taken the parcel without sambar It is purely spoiling your management reputation. Recently, had been to Chennai and had to take a connecting trian to Madurai. since had some buffer time thought of relisihing the Pongal dish, that I've been recommended by some of my south indian friends. It was around 6pm, that's when I had dropped in to this restaurant. I'd ordered for a Ghee Pongal. If you look at the menu above, it is written 54/-, which was the same when I saw and subsequently ordered.
But, when I went to pay the bill, the cashier, [ the worstest person I have ever seen, has a very bad attitude towards customers ], asked to me pay Rs. 65/-. I asked is it the taxes ? The reply was No. Then I told him "in the menu it is listed as Rs. 54/-, why do I have to pay 65/- "?. The reply was in Tamil, which I could not understand. I asked him " Jab menu mein 54/- likha hai to mujhe 65/- kyun dena pad raha hai "?. The he asked a person standing next to the counter to explain me in Hindi. The explanataion was " From Morning 6am - 10am, it is 54/- but after that it is 65/-". I told him " No where in the menu it is mentioned ". The cashier denied to accept 54/-. I finally gave him, 65/- and left the place. Atleast the waiter could have made me aware of the price, but he did not.
My experience after visiting this restaurant was, Absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, VERY BAD ATTITUDE SHOW BY THE CASHIER. I have made a commitment for myself that I will not visit this Restaurant ever in my Future visits to Chennai.
Even though, Ghee Pongal is my favorite dish, I would rather have it a different restaurant where the treat customer's with courtesy...

Me and my husband actually were looking for authentic South Indian food and found this restaurant just opposite to the Chennai Egmore Railway Station. We just kept our luggage in station cloak room and went there. The food serves to us fresh and warm. We took one meal and one business meal. Both were great. And at the last, we order Lassi,that was superb. Environment of the restaurant was very good. Have both AC and Non ac sitting area. As it was scorching May month summer time, we took seat in AC. It is purely vegetarian restaurant. Service was great. Highly recommended and appreciated. Vasantha Bhavan is now synonymous with the best of South Indian cooking. Apart from South Indian meal, they have other food options also like North Indian meal and so. But as were from North and went to South for vacation so our main focus was to explore more South Indian food.
