Rice n Spice — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

We were doing a day long trip from Karur to Thiruvarur and back, specifically to visit some temples. Decided to lunch at Kumbakonam but wasn't sure which restaurant would suit us. We literally stumbled upon Rice and Spice while driving through the Mahamaham tank and decided to eat there. The place was too crowded and we had to wait to get a table. There is no separate place to wait and you've to be on your toes staring straight at people who are lunching so you could get seated. We then had to wait a few more minutes for the tabled to be cleaned up. But, after all this ordeal, the lunch was worth the wait! We didn't go for the meals, opted for different kinds of rice. I've to admit I've never tasted Veg Pulao like this before. Both quality & quantity of the food we ordered was good and we had a sumptuous meal. I would like to visit this place again when I'm around, but would really love if something is done about the wait time and...

The service, food or atmosphere is not up to the standard of the price a person pays for.

It took 25 mins just to place an order (Order is one DOSA and COFFEE). The food was served only after 30 mins. Dosa was okay. Coffee was not at all bearable too much sugar, water was mixed with milk and not the way around. The bill reached my table took another 30 mins.

Though it had air conditioning and food was priced accordingly, the place was not at all air conditioned. The place was not hygienic at all and also saw lizards and cockroaches.

Since this location is filled with tourists, hotels take this as an advantage to loot the money. Hence, my suggestion, to have very less expectations if you are going to...

We had lunch on January 17, 2025 at Rice n Spice at Rayas Grand. It is one of the worst restaurant in Kumbakonam. The quality of food is extremely bad. The service is pathetic and also very rude behaviour from the staff. The handwash area was also not well maintained with no water coming in the taps. We had to inform the staff several times but they were not bothered about it. The Veg Biriyani was very spicy and not good at all. The North Indian Thali and Veg Fried rice were very ordinary. The dishes are also exorbitantly priced for the poor quality that's offered. All in all, a very bad experience. Please avoid at all cost. Otherwise, it will be a waste of your hard...
