My recent visit to Gowri Krishna Hotel was unfortunately an extremely underwhelming experience that I feel compelled to share. While I generally enjoy reviewing local establishments, the issues here went beyond minor glitches and significantly impacted my dining experience. I initially ordered a Chapati Set, which was served. Following this, I placed an order for a simple PLAIN DOSA. This is where the service deteriorated significantly. I waited for a staggering 15 minutes for this single dosa. While I initially tried to rationalize the delay, assuming it was due to the rushing crowd of customers, the reality proved to be much more frustrating. The most annoying and frankly unacceptable part of the experience occurred when I witnessed a blatant lapse in order management and fairness. A customer who ordered after me was served their PLAIN DOSA while I was still waiting for mine. I attempted to flag down several waiters, but despite my repeated efforts and the visible oversight, my order was still not delivered. This instance of serving a later-ordered item while neglecting a prior, identical order points to a critical failure in the hotel's service system. It felt as if the staff were prioritizing newer customers or those who happened to order at a specific time, completely ignoring the basic principle of 'first-come, first-served.' The staff's lack of accountability and the continued delay in correcting this error was the painstaking aspect of the visit. The combination of dated ambiance, disinterested staff, agonizingly slow service, and the clear display of prioritizing others over an existing, waiting customer left me deeply dissatisfied. A simple PLAIN DOSA should not be a 15+ minute ordeal, especially when newer patrons are being served first. Until the Gowri Krishna Hotel addresses its significant issues with order management and staff engagement, I cannot recommend it. Save yourself the wait and the...
Read moreI recently (19th July 2024) visited this restaurant and had an unpleasant experience with a server named Janaki. She was very rude and unprofessional. When I ordered Pongal, she crossed my table, and I called her to request a side dish like sambar. She looked at me, turned away, and went back to the kitchen.
When we confronted her about this, she claimed she hadn’t heard me.
Such behavior is unacceptable, especially in a restaurant located in the heart of the city. Visitors from other places will get a negative impression of Kumbakonam due to such poor service.
This kind of conduct from a server is very DISAPPOINTING.
I will visit next time, If no action taken on her then I won’t recommend this hotel to anybody toooo.😡
Note: Came Saturday(19th July) around 11 am in the morning and I don’t know the exact table name. I could say from entrance I was seated third or fourth table. Had inform the same thing to cashier also you can enquire about this incident to...
Read moreThe restaurant just opposite Anandam silks and textiles is my favourite in Kumbakonam . Had breakfast today - piping hot Idli , tasty hot Pongal and Vada . Sambar and chutney are the accompaniments - tasty . Coffee is good too . Had Lunch yesterday , the place was packed with people scrambling for seats to dine . For South Indian Lunch ( Limited) which is a reasonable 70 Rupees , you get Rice , Sambar , Paruppu podi , Rasam , Buttermilk , one curry , one koottu , appalam and pickle . The quantity is just right , quality is good - food is light on the stomach . If a little more attention is paid to better ways of cleaning using perfumed disinfectants to improve hygiene , you'd get more guests who look for good food with impeccable cleanliness - conventional methods of cleaning don't help . Hand wash area is an area to look into . A special mention of the bearers , support staff and their managers who are courteous and the service...
