Very poor experience here. We went here in the middle of the week at 6pm. The place was largely empty, with only two tables occupied. The service was abysmal, except for the lady at the door. There wasn't a thing about this bar that I thought merited a second visit.
First, we called to reserve a table at the pub. In an unwelcome fashion, we were asked to ensure that there were no men in our group wearing shorts.
Second, we arrived at the restaurant and were shown to a rather uncomfortable, poorly lit spot on the couch. We requested to be seated at a bunch of empty single seater sofas, close by. We were told that this was "not allowed" since those tables were only for couples. This despite the pub being nearly empty, and remaining so for the remainder of our stay.
Third, we asked to be seated in a corner of the ground floor, and were again told this was not allowed since the wait staff may need to walk there (ours was a group of three, and needed an extra chair since most tables only had two seats). We were finally seated next to the entrance.
Fourth, we asked for the menu, which we received promptly with a disclaimer that tandoori dishes could not be ordered (fair enough, presuming the tandoor hadn't been lit yet). The wait staff wasn't sufficiently knowledgeable about the cocktails the pub made, or about the beers on offer (not all of which were actually available).
Fifth, in the middle of our drink, a member of the wait staff arrived and insisted on pulling down the blinds at the window. We asked for the window to be left open for a little while longer, the bar was still empty (except for 6 other guests, spread across two floors). It was dark outside, there was absolutely no reason to insist on pulling the blinds down. I hear this was another one of the place's many "rules".
In the course of our brief stay here, we realised that the pub was concerned more about its image and its rules, than on the experience it gave to its customers. I found this rather absurd since there was absolutely no basis for this pretentiousness - this is at best a mediocre pub with nothing special to offer, and that gives its guests an abysmal experience. I do...

Read moreWhen we came to know that The Velvetten Rabbit located in R.A. Puram had started a Sunday Brunch we had no hesitation in opting to spend our Sunday afternoon there.
They have Four options to choose from Non Alcoholic Brunch @ Rs999, IMFL Cocktail Brunch @ Rs 1499 ,Unlimited IMFL and Wine @ Rs 1999, Sparkling Wine @ Rs 1599 ( Limited).
The Food menu includes Choice of Eggs & Assorted Bread Basket, Starters and Appetizers, Pizza or Nanzza by the Slice , Main Course and finished off with Dessert.
I chose the Sparkling Wine Brunch and the wine served was Sula Brut a product of Sula Vineyards located in Maharashtra. It was quite smooth and had no ill effects afterwords.
We started off with the Chicken Ham Omelette, served with Hash Brown and Grilled Tomato. The ham in the omelette gave it a nice taste. Followed with the Chilly Panneer and Aloo Corn Tikki in the Veg section and Jalapeno Spiced Lamb Skewer, Chettinad Chicken Varuval and the Achari Fish Tikka. I loved the Fish Tikka and the Lamb Skewers which were just too good with the dip provided. The chicken varuval on the bone provided an authentic south Indian feel.
Followed by Pizza and Nanzza which is a cross between the Pizza and our very own Naan. The Naan was topped with Chicken Tikka and loaded with cheese and was just too good. The main course I had was the Rice and Chicken Chettinad which was quite delicious with the right amount of spice just the way I like it.
Finished off with the taste of the Eggless Hazel Nut Torte and the Walnut Brownie. Both didn't disappoint. The service was attentive but unobtrusive and the burrow provided a fantastic atmosphere to spend time relaxing with great wine and food on a...
