As a loyal customer of Toppi Vappa for over two years, my go-to order has always been the tandoori half platter. The perfectly cooked meats and juicy seekh kebabs have never disappointed — until now. Last night’s experience, however, was not only disappointing but downright insulting. We were seated at Table B6 at 9:33 PM and immediately sensed an uncomfortable, judgmental attitude from the waiter. Instead of a warm welcome, we were met with arrogance and condescension. The moment we ordered, he felt the need to “educate” us on how a seekh is made — as if we were unfamiliar with a dish we've been ordering for years. It felt patronizing and completely unnecessary, especially when the point was simply that previously, we received more than three pieces of malai tikka — a fact we politely brought up. We specifically requested the Schezwan chicken to be extra spicy. What we got was a sickly sweet mess overloaded with garlic — nowhere close to a Schezwan flavor profile. We were already disheartened, but chose not to make a scene. We waited. Forty-five minutes later, the platter finally arrived — and guess what? No seekh kebab. When we called the waiter back, his response was appalling. No apology, no surprise, no urgency — just more arrogance. He claimed the chef “must have forgotten” and shrugged it off like it wasn’t his problem. Then he contradicted himself by saying seekh isn’t included in the half platter, despite clearly having said earlier that it is. And then came the height of audacity — “If you wanted seekh, you should have ordered seekh.” Excuse me? After misleading us during the initial order, this is what we get? Not even the basic courtesy of fixing the order or offering a solution. Instead, he told us it would take more time (again), and then he just vanished. No follow-up, no correction, no replacement — just silence. Finally, he came back only to drop the bill like we were nothing more than a burden. Let me remind you of something simple: The customer is the king. We don’t expect royal treatment — we expect basic respect, honesty, and accountability. Your brand has earned its name through consistent quality and service — but employees like this are a stain on that reputation. Their arrogance, lack of customer service ethics, and sheer disrespect are driving your business into the ground. If this is the standard now, I’d be ashamed to recommend this place to anyone. We urge you to take immediate action. Train your staff to respect your customers. Replace those who think they’re above it. Don’t let their behavior destroy what you've worked so hard to build. We walked out not just disappointed — but disgusted.
Sincerely, A Once-Loyal and Deeply...
Read moreThoppi Vappa Biryani, Nagercoil My visit to Thoppi Vappa Biryani in Nagercoil on May 4 2025 yielded a mixed experience. While certain aspects were commendable, there were notable areas for improvement. For fellow chicken biryani enthusiasts, I enthusiastically recommend trying their chicken biryani. The rice is incredibly flavorful and aromatic, packing a unique punch that stands out. While it does have a distinct "tomato-forward" taste, this quality contributes to its memorable character and makes it a unique experience for those who appreciate a well-spiced biryani base. Unfortunately, the chicken in the biryani itself lacked flavor and appeared to be simply cooked without any seasoning, not even salt. On a positive note, the restaurant generously served bread halwa to the children, which they enjoyed. The chicken lollipops were a highlight. They arrived promptly and were well-received by the kids, proving to be a tasty starter. However, the Pallipalayam chicken gravy was deeply disappointing. It bore no resemblance to the traditional Coimbatore-style Pallipalayam chicken. The chicken itself had an unappetizing odor, indicating it hadn't been cleaned thoroughly. Despite sending it back, the replacement portion suffered from the same issues. In contrast, the butter paneer masala was quite good and flavorful. The chapathis were also well-prepared and served hot. The service overall was efficient and polite. Considering the price point, there's an expectation for a higher standard of food quality, particularly concerning the biryani chicken and the...
Read moreThe taste of the biriyani at Topi Vappa is commendable, showcasing good flavors that are worth trying. However, there's room for improvement.
One major disappointment is their Loyalty Wallet points system. While they advertise earning points with every purchase, the redemption process is extremely inconvenient. During my recent visit, I requested to redeem my accumulated points at the counter while paying the bill, only to be told that it's only possible if requested during the ordering process. This inconsistency makes the loyalty program practically useless.
Moreover, it's puzzling why they don't inform customers about the Loyalty Wallet points when taking orders. Despite the waiters asking for mobile numbers and correctly addressing customers by name, this crucial piece of information is omitted until it's too late to redeem. It begs the question: what's the purpose of having a loyalty program if it's not communicated effectively and ends up misleading customers?
Overall, Topi Vappa Biriyani has potential with its tasty offerings, but they need to streamline their loyalty program and ensure transparency to avoid disappointing...
