Had one of the worst experience here recently. Don't fall for the ambience and hygiene. The food here is very bad. I mean it doesn't worth the penny spent.
We have ordered Veg meals (150 Rupees) and Veg Biryani (170 Rupees).
Veg meals - It had rice(just 150g) which is far below than the average rice provided in any other store at this price point, sambar(had plenty of vegetables which is the only good thing), rasam which was as watery as water, vatha kolamba (very oily and spicy), Keerai gravey (too spicy), veg kootu(without any veggies), beetroot poriyal (quarter boiled), one vadai (fine), appalam, payasam (superb) and butter milk (sour which is usual in summer). For a price range of 150, one would expect more in a meal which wasn't even half fulfilled. Rating for meals - 2/5
Veg Biryani - This is the worst dish out of the two we ordered. It was not veg biryani and instead it was instant made fried biryani. Let me be more clear to my previous line. It was basically a dish that was made out of fried rice + chilli powder + turmeric powder + coriander tossed at the end. Wasn't even tasty and was raw spicy. They provided only raitha and biryani's quantity was more. But no one can finish even half of it, at his peak hunger. When enquired to the store manager and chef they gave a very good answer "It's our signature special biryani and everyone loves it". Fun fact - The restaurant had nearly 50 people occupancy at a time and I was the only guy who ordered this special dish 😞 Rating for biryani - 0/5
Overall if you are planning to have your lunch here, don't even have this restaurant in your list. Atleast skip the dishes mentioned(there was no other dishes available...
Read moreI recently dined at this restaurant, and I must say it's a treat for vegetarian food lovers. From the moment I stepped in, the clean, well-maintained ambience set the perfect tone for my dining experience.
Let's start with their appetizers – the corn cheese balls are an absolute must-try! Perfectly crispy on the outside with a gooey, cheesy interior that makes them irresistibly good. Another starter that caught my attention was their Mushroom Pepper. The spicy kick combined with perfectly sautéed mushrooms created a flavor explosion that left me wanting more.
For the main course, I ordered their Malai Kofta paired with garlic naan, and what a combination it turned out to be! The creamy, rich gravy complemented the perfectly cooked naan, which had just the right amount of garlic to enhance the overall taste without overpowering it.
The quality of food here is exceptional, and it's evident that they maintain high standards in their kitchen. The clean dining area and pleasant atmosphere make it an ideal spot for both casual dining and special occasions.
However, there's one significant drawback – parking. Located near a main traffic signal, finding a spot can be quite challenging. The limited underground parking fills up quickly, forcing many diners to park on the street, which can be inconvenient, especially during peak hours.
Despite the parking hassle, the outstanding food makes this place worth visiting. Just plan ahead for the parking situation, and you're in for a delightful...
Read moreDuring my stay at Sree Sakti Residency in Kancheepuram, I had the chance to dine at Upasana Restaurant, conveniently located on the ground floor of the hotel. Being a pure vegetarian restaurant, it turned out to be a delightful experience, and I must say – it was amazing!
We ended up having almost all our meals here, and every dish we tried was consistently delicious. The idlis were soft, fluffy, and paired beautifully with a variety of chutneys and their flavorful sambar. For breakfast, we also enjoyed the Rava Onion Masala Dosa, Ghee Masala Dosa, and crispy Medhu Vadas – all served fresh and hot.
For lunch and dinner, we tried dishes like Fried Rice, Paneer Butter Masala, Onion Kulcha, along with refreshing drinks like Lime Soda and Watermelon Juice. Everything was prepared with care, tasted homely yet restaurant-style, and the quality was absolutely on point.
Another plus is their timings – the restaurant opens as early as 6:30 AM and serves until 10:30 PM, making it convenient for both early risers and late diners.
Overall, Upasana offers a perfect combination of authentic South Indian flavors, North Indian dishes, refreshing beverages, and warm service. Definitely a must-visit if you are in...
