I don’t write reviews often, but Vietnam Express deserves every bit of recognition. Having visited Chef Ly and Manish’s earlier home-style kitchen, I was excited to see how their passion for Vietnamese cuisine has grown into this new restaurant in Powai. While the location doesn’t remind me of Vietnam, the food certainly does—every dish is a beautiful journey back to the flavors I experienced during my travels there.
Chef Ly, who is Vietnamese, brings an incredible authenticity to the food, while Manish, her Indian husband, ensures guests feel right at home with his warm hospitality. It’s the perfect combination of heart and talent. The attention to detail in the dishes is remarkable—from the perfectly balanced pho to the fresh and flavorful rolls. It’s evident that every dish is crafted with love and care.
The transition from a cozy home kitchen to a full-fledged restaurant is impressive, but what remains unchanged is the quality of the food and the passion they put into every plate. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience that stands out among the dining options in Mumbai.
If you’re a fan of Vietnamese cuisine or simply love good food, Vietnam Express is a must-visit. Chef Ly and Manish, you’ve outdone yourselves—thank you for bringing such an authentic and delicious slice of Vietnam to our city! Highly...
Read moreI tried here for first time after going through the good reviews. Here is my honest review. I had ordered Bun Thing Nuong which was relatively good but the whole essence of good food was gone by the attitude of lady there. I also had ordered The vietnamese coffee with coconut cream as they had described in the menu - i was amazed to see that it hardly had any coffee and a glass full of ice. No taste of Coconut no taste of coffee. I requested at the counter to cut down on ice and add on coffee as there is absolutely no taste of coffee or coconut but only ice.To my surprise not only she was rude but showed weird attitude. She didn't know to speak in English that is fine but the attitude was extremely bad. Never have come across anyone till date. Didn't expect such rude behaviour. As if she is doing great favor to me !! The staff also tried to explain her but she was rude to her too. I am attaching the picture of what is in menu and what she offered. It's making fool out of people !! Any local coffee house would have added little coffee by understanding the problem but here she only showed attitude. Its not about the money but it's about the attitude you feed people and than u call it Homely !! I prefer eating in proper restaurant atleast they serve with love and respect! Learn...
Read moreWonderful Sunday meal 👌
Vietnam express is in the Supreme tower lobby and has 4 tables seating 4 each. The view is nice with Hiranandani and a small garden in the background. They have an open kitchen which looks quite neat and clean, it’s of course new. There’s valet parking (no charge on Sunday, don’t know about other days)
They started us off with some complimentary (cold) jasmine tea which was refreshing.
We ate Chicken and prawn rolls - yummy with a nutty sauce accompaniment 5/5
Saigon special sandwich - they bake their own bread. Absolutely fresh and delicious. The chicken ham, egg and sauces all went together beautifully 5/5
Chicken pho - I’m not a pho person, but u liked it. A huge bowl with generous quantity 5/5
Tropical iced tea - pleasant and mild, not at all syrup-y. Had some tiny pieces of fresh fruits like pineapple and strawberry 5/5
We had a delightful lunch and we’ll surely be ordering in/ eating here again. We...
