One of the best restaurant of lucknow. The above review was given by me 10 months back, but yesterday's incident changed my view for this restaurant. Actually what happened with me was very unexpected from their side. The issue is about fault in bill. I had visited this restaurant on 13th Dec. 2020 and had lunch with one of my friend. After that I asked for Bill and just looked on total amount to be paid without looking on the items listed in bill. The amount was Rs. 1145 which I found reasonable for two. I paid it. Then for some work next day I was out of town for 5 days but when i was not in Lucknow I was going through all the receipts present in wallet. In this course i found the Bill of Royal Cafe in which i fkund they by mistake have charged me for some Non-veg pizza insted of Masala Papad. So after coming back to Lucknow I again on 20th Dec. 2020 visited their with my same friend for lunch but before placing order I just inquired about my issue with the person who came for taking our order (a man in Blazer). I told him that am not asking for refund or any adjustment. It's just a normal query. But the person opposite to me was very unprofessional. He straight forward denied me and said '' aap ek week baad aa rhe hai agr aap ek do ghante baad ya ek do din me aa jate to hum wapas kr dete paisa, pr ab ku6 nahi ho skta". I laughed and said it's ok but ye aapke upr hai hona ya na hona. Then he got lil but rude and said "ny ho skta ab aap ek week baad aa k boliyega to thodi ho paega, humare pass neeche 24 waiters hai ab kisi ko yaad thodi hoga k aap kya order kiye kya ny kiye. Humlog daily lakho ka business krte hai." I didn't found it professional. I took bill in my hand and said its ok but being an Advocate of High Court i just want to inform you that if i will file a complaint in Consumer Court against this restaurant it could be problematic for your restaurant but am not going to do anything like that because the difference of 200 approx. in bill is not a big deal for me. Now what he replied was totally unexpected from a staff of such a reputed restaurant. He said "hum District Judge k damad hai aapko jo krna hai kariye ku6 nahi hoga". I found it very unprofessional. I replied for your information you must know i am also son of District Judge. Now he was totally out of control and said "hum log 6 saal se mla hai, kahi ku6 nahi hoga". During all these i have already left the table and was standing but after his last reply i left the place with very unpleasant experience for life. Still I don't complaint about taste of food their but in absence of etiquette and professionalism every food are tasteless. Yesterday's visit was my last...
Read moreFood was quite costly and bad for the price. We had following vegetarian items : Veg Manchow Soup, Honey crispy Potato, Veg Hakka Noodles, Banarsi Dum Aloo, Dal Fry, Tandoori and Roomali Roti. It cost us 2600 for single serving of each. We were three people. Portion size was OK.
Coming to food, honey potato was very salty and little hard instead of soft crispy. We couldn't pierce it with fork. The excess of salt was very discernible. Yet it was the best item of the day.
Noodles was cooked in such a way that several noodles were fried black. It was as if it was prepared too early or fried too much. We were surprised to see blacked noodles. When we protested, the server retorted that it was normal. When we insisted, he carried it back. Sometimes later he brought it back after removing black ones and right away served in our plates. The noodles itself was OK but the sauce served with noodles was very bland. Hakka noodles with white sauce had no taste at all. Finally, we had the main course. One 60 Rs tandoori roti was burnt black while other was ok. Daal was tasty but again too much salt. Banarsi dum aloo was ok. Nothing much great about it. Overall the food was bad. It was overpriced and the food left a bad aftertaste.
Coming to service, the servers seemed too busy. Food wait time was low, but the servers were slow to respond. Ambience was not very good. The plates looked dated and old.
All in all, very bad experience. I had very good experience at Royal Cafe of Lulu Mall so came with high hopes. At Lulu Royal Cafe, food is much cheaper, much tastier and overall ambience is great. At half the cost I would've had great food there. It's a shame we had such bad experience at their high...
