Firstly, they are nothing like a bakery. No fresh breads, no bakery items that were appealing to even order. Secondly, they say they open at 7:30am but the workers there are so lackluster, it seems like they have no intent to serve people for breakfast, at breakfast time. While the location is decent, the insides of this bakery was filthy. They had not cleaned it from the previous night and had creepy crawlies all over. Coming to the food - we ordered coffe and 2 sandwiches, confirming with the waiter that the vegetables and other ingredients are fresh. Turns out all of them were more or less stale. Coffee was alright, but the veggies and breads were nowhere close to fresh (and they claim that they make their own bread). The avocado sandwich had less avocado in the sandwich and more on the side, as a salad. Even if I want to give them the benefit of their own preparation, they can at least use fresh vegetables, if not, be true to the customers that its not available. All the pieces of avocados had a black mark like they had gone bad and were bitter. Worst meal I had in my entire trip in Rishikesh. I don't recommend this...
Read moreI have been living in rishikesh for a month now- and wow. This place has been my second home. This is not just a cafe with AMAZING chocolate balls, the best Veg sandwich you will ever have, or the necessary double espresso through out the day. But this is a place of love.
The staff greets you with a smile and warm embrace everyday (sometimes 3 times a day) The food (vegan Reese’s ball is a must) , coffee, tea, and Lassi (my personal favorite is the traditional salty one) is made with love, and authenticity.
The atmosphere with the view of the Ganga is mesmerizing and there is space here for whatever you need. Be it is studying, personal reflection, tears, or just some catching up with friends- this is the spot.
One of my most missed places will be Babylon German cafe.
With so much love from the bottom of my heart - if you have the opportunity to find yourself here- please stop in and tell them Rachel sent you ;)
You’ll be sure to find yourself with warm embrace!
Namaste my friends- Om Gam...
Read moreOne of the first bakeries that opened in Rishikesh, and the owners worked on all the recipes for the cakes themselves, taking suggestions from us foreigners, who love some good cakes 😙 They were the first to start choco reeses balls, and those are still the best all over Rishikesh at Pumpernickel. Many tried to copy them, but they just don't get the unique interior right! The view of the river is very serene here and the atmosphere calm, perfect for yogis and people looking to retreat from the crazy rest of town. The menu has lots of good food, especially healthy options. I've been coming here since 2013 and tested most of their menu and all cakes, this time I got a green juice and it was perfect. The Ayurvedic Thali is also amazing (if they still have it, Kicheri too). They recently got new chairs and art for the walls, so the interior is a bit more fancy now and gives a nice vibe. Prices are still reasonable, despite the increasing costs in...
