Read moreI rarely write negative reviews about popular places. They are popular for a reason, but in all honesty my experience was horrible, because I figured the rotten in the staff functioning there. The staff basically takes bribes to reserve the system. You could be waiting since and hour, the table goes to the person who pays some extra money to the waiter. I am not sure if the upper management knows about it. Since I foiled the system and demanded that my seat be given to me which i have waited for the waiter misbehaved with me and tried to shoo me away. Since I demanded that i be given the seat that i have waited for since and hour and not to the person who came a minute before, the waiter refused to clean the table. I got the menu after half an hour when the cashier insisted. When i tried to complain to the cashier he refused to register the complaint stating that they had enough customers and if one did not enjoy the service it did not matter to them. Honestly, the food was fine. Drinks menu was limited, but similar food was available at the neighbouring cafe with much better service and much mannered staff. In Freedom cafe the people keep hovering over you and the staff keeps asking you to eat quickly and leave. So the view and river breeze becomes meaningless and non-relaxing. They have paid the influencers and gained popularity on social media but their management clearly signals towards poor vision for the growth and future of their business. The prices of other neighbouring cafes are also more competitive. You are not allowed to smoke in the cafe. It is not a place to visit if you want to have a peaceful experience in a cafe near ganga and please don't go there for a date if you don't want to be embarassed. In total i believe that it is only Ganges that is Cafe's USP, cafe on its own is below average in...
Read moreI’ve been a regular at Freedom Café, visiting seven times in the last 1.5 months, including four times in the past two days. I even waited 40 minutes for a table this time, just because I liked the food and the vibe. But after this visit, I don’t think I’ll ever step foot here again.
We ordered a dal fry with rice for my 77-year-old father, who’s undergoing dental treatment and can only eat soft food. To our horror, he found a small black rock in the dal. Thankfully, he noticed it before chewing and managed to spit it out. We called the server and showed it to him politely, thinking they’d at least apologize. But no, the chef had the audacity to say it wasn’t their fault.
When I went to the billing counter and demanded to speak to the chef, he refused to come out, saying he was “busy.” Busy with what? Tossing more rocks in the food? This behavior was insulting, especially since I’m a regular and waited so long for a table. Does he think I’d put a rock in my food just to get a free meal? Absolutely ridiculous!
The manager tried to reduce the bill by 50%, but I didn’t want their discount—I wanted an apology, which I never got. I ended up paying ₹1500 for a total bill of ₹1220, left a tip too, and walked out feeling disgusted.
To anyone planning to visit this café: If they can’t even keep rocks out of their food, I don’t even want to imagine how filthy their kitchen must be. Think twice before eating here—you might end up with more than just food...
