A Delightful Dining Experience
I recently dined at this restaurant, and I must say it was a delightful experience. Let me break down the highlights:
Amazing Food: The culinary journey began with a trio of delectable dishes: Paneer Butter Masala, Mix Veg, and Laccha Parantha. Each dish was bursting with flavor, and I wholeheartedly recommend all three. The balance of spices and freshness left a lasting impression.
Warm Hospitality: The staff deserves a special mention. Their courteous demeanor and attentive service made us feel right at home. It’s refreshing to encounter such genuine hospitality.
Efficient Service: The speed at which our orders were served pleasantly surprised us. The kitchen worked like a well-oiled machine, ensuring we didn’t have to wait long. Kudos to the efficient team!
Portion Size: While the food quality was exceptional, I noticed that the portion sizes were slightly smaller. However, this seems intentional—perhaps to minimize wastage. Notably, even a single plate was sufficient for two hungry diners.
Spotless Ambiance: The sitting area was impeccably clean. From the tables to the floor, everything gleamed. It’s evident that hygiene is a top priority here.
Entry Considerations: The restaurant’s entrance consists of three stairs. While this architectural feature adds character, it might pose a challenge for senior citizens. A ramp or alternative access would be beneficial.
Dual Seating Areas: The restaurant offers twin seating options. The ground-level area provides easy access, while the upper ground section offers a different perspective. Keep in mind that the latter requires climbing an additional 5-6 stairs.
In summary, this restaurant combines great food, warm service, and a clean ambiance. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience, give it...

Chotiwala Restaurant in Swarg Ashram, Rishikesh is a landmark vegetarian restaurant that’s been around since 1958. It's known for its pure-veg food, especially the Punjabi thali, and its iconic “Chotiwala” mascot sitting at the entrance.
🪷 What I Liked: ✔️ The place has a traditional Indian vibe, with a spiritual Ganga-side location. ✔️ The variety of North Indian vegetarian dishes is impressive. ✔️ Prices are moderate – a thali costs around ₹200–₹250, which is decent for tourists.
⚠️ But here's the truth: ✖️ Service is slow, especially during lunch hours. We waited over 25 minutes between dishes. ✖️ Hygiene and cleanliness need improvement — the wash area wasn’t well maintained. ✖️ No clear menu prices — they served items without us ordering and later charged for them. ✖️ Honestly, the food taste was average, not matching the hype or history.
🎯 Tips before you visit:
Visit during non-peak hours to avoid waiting.
Ask for a printed menu or confirm prices before ordering.
If you're here for the experience or photos, it's worth a try — but for foodies, there are better veg spots in Rishikesh.
📍Overall: A nostalgic and historic stop, but not a must-visit for great food. Go for the legacy, stay if you like the vibe — just manage your expectations.
