ABSOLUTE CHEATS. Boycott them. They claim they are the original DADA BOUDI - but I have grave doubts. A vegetarian lunch of rice, dal and posto for two persons cost Rs 440/-. The price would have been justified had the quality and quantity been okay. Neither is the quality nor quantity commensurate with the price. We ordered ALU POSTO. It cost Rs 150/-. But there was absolutely no posto in it. Just boiled potatoes in a curry of red chilly and mustard paste. When I confronted the chap who took the order, he scampered off. A bowl of watery dal, really watery with hardly any trace of dal in it costs Rs 100/-. What they call CHATNI is a small tea spoon, half the size of the tea spoon that we use, doling out watery tamarind water - anything but certainly not chatni. Even the papad that is served is a 2 inch x 2 inch piece.
The normal thali which costs Rs 80/- just does not satisfy one's hunger - such is the quantity.
And we Bengalis, eager for a Bengali lunch or dinner go to this place to be fleeced. Please spread the word around to boycott...
Read moreThis is original dokan of dada and boudi as they calim... The original dehradun rice thali starts from 280 as of today and above as we were told pior to order the meal as informed ... But sadly when I repeated myself with a same question the answer was different.. also there is a meal at 180 which doesn't offer dehradun rice (but neither did the 280 one as promised) for.. where the the other dada boudir dokans (tried 3 others ) offers meal at 80 only with variety of choices of sabjis.
As per the 280 rs meal goes, I would personally say it is overrated... Why: well begun vaja was salt less same or less as other dada boudi and masir dokan.. as well as the chatni papad, rice, ichor , daal ( although it was masoor compared to motor in other places) .. only better item were aloo posto(also available at 180), ghee(you can get it at 180 meal) and simui payesh ... I didn't find postor bora a great item.. but paying 200 rs extra in a place like Haridwar is not worth..
You may try your luck and let me know your thoughts... You may...
Read moreWe've been visiting this lovely restaurant for years(since 2006/7) now — it’s become a tradition every time we come to Haridwar. The food here has always been absolutely delicious — home-like taste, rich in flavors, and consistently top-notch quality. It’s evident that the staff takes great care in maintaining hygiene and service, and that’s something we’ve always appreciated.
This time too, we enjoyed our meal thoroughly — every bite was a delight. The atmosphere is family-friendly and peaceful, which adds to the overall experience.
We did notice a change in pricing — from ₹120 per plate earlier to ₹180 now. While we completely understand that rising costs and quality maintenance can impact pricing, we thought of sharing it so future visitors are aware beforehand. That said, the taste and quality truly justify the experience, and the increase is understandable in today’s time.
Wishing the restaurant continued...
