Out of all the 6 Ballygunge Place's I have visited at Kolkata, this outlet has raised some eyebrows by now. They have opened this one after careful analysis and research from the rest of them. Every inch of this outlet screams "Bangaliana" once you step in. From the seating, chairs, tables, walls, couch, floor tiles, ceilings, dining plates, bowls to Chandeliers, everything has a touch of Bengali heritage. Their rich menu covers all the authentic dishes of Bengal to tickle your taste buds and oh boy, you won't be disheartened once you complete your bhuri bhoj. Their buffet boasts an array of dishes from long and clean Basmati rice, to sorshe pabda jhaal to kosha mangsho, accompanied by murgir jhol. Shaak and tomato bhatey was a unique dish. The kankrul er chop complimented with a mint of gondhoraj lebu and moong daal made it scintillating! As obvious, every luchi they had been serving is like a big balloon, a forte they carry on as a legacy. The Luchi's "Lagaa chunri mein" aloo dum will make you go mad, the combination to die for! To end the menu, they have the pleasant chanar jilipi and mishti doi. Chatni papad is always as business as usual. The point to note here is their A la carte is as descriptive as the Geetobitan and their plethora of Bengali dishes will blow your mind and you'll find yourself confused to choose what to eat. While eating they'll make you fall in love with Rabindrasangeet once again, if you had forgot to hear them of recent late due to hectic work. They boast two semi-football field rooms to have enough room for all guests at the same time.
All the staffs were very well kempt, courteous, professional, neat and exceptionally tidy following all the hygiene. The washroom was very very well maintained as well. I would suggest to their team to go for traditional attires, especially for men, in red and white dhuti panjabi accompanied by nagraj shoes. The only off was their well ironed western suits and ties. Well, as usual, I had a very good experience this time as well. If you're still reading, and even if you're a non-bengali, do hop in! They'll give you the authentic taste of Bengal's rich flavours. They're the torch bearers, as of late....
Read moreReally fond of their food and hospitality. However parking is very difficult to get in the premise. The security person didn’t allow us to park inside even plenty of empty spots were there. They kept telling there is only 4 spot for this restaurant and since that is full we can’t park in any other location. I have requested them that for time being if they can allow us if anyone comes then our driver can park elsewhere . But the security was too rigid and not welcoming so we decided to leave. I would like to request the management to kindly address this kind of issue because you are just losing potential customer for security persons at the gate. Roadside parking wasn’t near enough as well! So we had to leave ! However parking is very difficult to get in the premise. Read moreWent there with my family on 18th Dec for Ala-Carte Lunch. This place was very good earlier and we are regular visitors. But yeaterday it seems this place has been reduced to a - Fish market. Ambience is very noisy- lots of celebration parties going on in one side with very loud noise (instead of soft music played earlier). huge number of waiters standing, running around shoving past you with food dishes busily in the din and bustle. One of them even came to my table saying this is your To-Go food Sir - by mistake! So, after a very long wait of at least 30 + minutes I had to shout to the manager as reminding the waiters was not helping. The food finally came and though the taste though was good and cost was not high, quality was questionable - the bhapa doi in the end was definitely stale and later my aged mother threw up the whole food within 1 hour. So I doubt the freshness of the chicken and daab chingri served ... also the service experience was bad as no one seemed to care for the timeliness of the serving. It is a big hotch-potch out there....will never visit again after the harrowing experience - during and within an hour after...
