Often the one's that are at a stone's throw distance, are ignored. Same was the case with me. Chennai Xpress is located at about a minute's distance from my home and I can't believe I hadn't yet tried it. All thanks to a sudden meet up that we decided to be here. And the food has me totally floored. For starters we had: Malai Paneer Tikka (Highly highly recommended): Soft pieces of paneer marinated in malai, tandoor grilled and served with a layer of melted cheese on top.......yes I just described a little bit of heaven. Veg Tandoor Platter: A wholesome platter with variety of kebabs to fill you up. It has tandoori aloo, hara bhara kebab, Tandoori paneer tikka and Malai Paneer tikka. Each and every piece was delectable. Specially loved the filling for tandoori aloo.
For Main Course we got ourselves:
Veg Biryani: Long basmati rice cooked to perfection. The aroma filling up the room.....this biryani was served with raita and served as the perfect base for our condimental dishes.
Shaam Savera(Highly highly highlyyyyy recommended): Oh My God....where do I even begin to describe what piece of delight this was. I had shaam savera for the first time and I'm a fan for life. Imagine a palak katori filled with paneer and khoya, floating on a yellow nut based gravy.....uffffff I'll go back for this every time.
Dal Makhani: This is our regular dal makhani which had the aroma of ghee oozing and giving a heavenly feel.
Pindi Chhola: This too was really good, mildly spiced and was paired perfectly with the naans and kulcha that we ordered.
Paneer Tikka Masala: The paneer lover in me was soooo happy to be here. The quality of paneer that they use is too good to be true. This dish was a bit on the spicier side which I loved. Paired it up with the butter and garlic naans. Tasted so amazing that I'm drooling at the very thought of it. To wash it all down, we got ourselves the recently launched milkshakes in Strawberry, Blueberry, Khas Banana and Black Currant. The Khas Banana was something very unique and tasted quite refreshing. However, my absolute favorite is the Blueberry milkshake. I can gulp down bottles of this one.
Overall, for the first time, I fell in love with a vegetarian joint. The food, the quantity and above all, the quality is really amazing considering the price that you pay for it. Also, they have the best blueberry milkshake in town hands down.

Read moreI've had a very good experience in the chain's other branches and came here for lunch with my wife and kid expecting the same, but was utterly disappointed. There was only one other customer there but still the service was very poor. Only one waiter was serving and he also kept going to the kitchen repeatedly for long periods of time. We had to ask the manager again and again to send for someone every time we needed something. The restaurant serves many exclusive dosas but our waiter was unaware of the preparations and had to call someone else when we enquired which was what. We asked for a pizza dosa without any ketchup in its preparation to which the waiter said that they don't use it in the preparation, but when the dosa came there was a spread of sauce in the base to which the manager said that it is obvious that the pizza will have a sauce base but there is no extra ketchup in it. Furthermore, we had to ask for sambhar and chatni several times and had to wait several minutes before we complained to the manager and only then we were served. The manager himself was busy watching the world cup on his computer and had zero supervision on what was going on. We ordered a masala dosa but they gave a plain dosa and only after complaining did they bring the masala after a few minutes. The other table ordered a cold coffee but they got served hot coffee in a cold coffee glass. We wanted to ordered beverages ourselves but looking at this unprofessional management we decided to...
Read moreWorst place ever visited by me. Horrible management. Can't comment for food bcoz had to leave after ordering. The waiters were so rude that we had to leave the restro. Yesterday I went with my family. It was a very clumsy place, too small to sit comfortably. AC were on but no cooling. We had a waiting. A table got empty and we were asked to occupy it. We sat N placed an order of a plain dosa N a masala dosa with soft drink. But suddenly a lady next to my table complained that the masala is stale. So the manager said I vl get it freshly made but it will take time. We were already waiting for more than 1/2 N hour hence we said that instead of masala dosa give us plain dosa to save time. Waiter said ok. Than again we were waiting like anything. I asked the waiter how long. His reply was shocking for us. He said, " humlog koi shaukh nai hai wait krvane Ka" (it's not our hobby to keep u all waiting). I said plz use decent words as I am just asking how long more to wait. To my more surprise, he replied "thank you" instead of saying sorry, and left. All the waiters were busy serving to a single table , reason best known to them. Reply of waiter was more than enough for me to tolerate and hence we left ftom there at 9pm without uttering a single word. From 8pm to 9 pm we literally wasted our time and had to search for some other restaurant as we were...
