Pather Panchali — Restaurant in West Bengal

I visited with one elder brother on 21/10/23 for Mahabhoj Lunch at Nigha outlet, here is my honest review, The live baul music was quite loud. Salad was without any dressing, basically only cut veggies. No sholakochu bata, replaced by thankunipata baata, papad & chutney ok. Bori bhaja was crispy👍🏼. No jhuri alubhaja, instead plain shredded potato fried in refined oil without turmeric, begun bhaja again whitish without hint of salt & turmeric. Shukto was okayish. No hint of Hing in Hing Kochuri, but we liked the cold kochuris & the narkel diye cholar daal tasted great. Bhaja mug daal was also good👍. Shorshe Pomfret too salty. Macher Matha diye Moong Dal was good. Fish paturi was basa fish & had zero signs of marination, felt dry & was not succulent. Payesh was more of doodhbhaat kind, murighonto had the consistency of Khichuri😆, expected longer grain rice in shada bhaat, but ok. Liked very much the Chingri diye potol dolma👍🏼. Mishti Pulao was overpowered with fragrance, not expected. Roshogolla tasted good but again was refrigerated. Misti Doi had plenty of water🤭. Now comes the show stopper, Mutton. It tasted totally stale. The preparation was nice but the quality of mutton was not upto the expectation. Seems from fully grown animal with typical smell. I raised this issue silently without any fuss & the person who was managing the setup immediately called the chef who politely addressed the issue & promptly brought us cooked mutton from main kitchen, which again was nicely prepared but due to the inferior quality of meat, did not taste fresh. I gently explained the chef that we understand the issue, it's not his fault. He was very eager to serve food. Again No Complain about Service & Hospitality. We enjoyed the Pan.

Hit of the Day, it was matter of utter surprise to many of us that @900/pax, there's no provision of drinking water & a normal packaged water had to be bought @2.5 times of its price, is it fair & just?

Old bad food in a Novel Branding

So, I recently visited this restaurant that goes by a fancy name but unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the hype. Let me give you the lowdown on my experience.

First things first, the food itself wasn't anything special. It tasted just like what you'd find at any other City Residency outlet. Honestly, I was hoping for something unique and delicious, but it turned out to be a disappointment. If you're looking for a culinary adventure, this is not the place to go.

On the bright side, I must admit that the ambiance of the restaurant was quite pleasant. I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and the overall vibe. However, it's important to note that a fancy atmosphere shouldn't justify exorbitant prices and extremely poor quality food. It's like putting lipstick on a pig, you know?

Now, let's talk about their pricing strategy. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the price of a simple water bottle. They were charging a whopping 50 bucks for something that usually costs around 20 bucks elsewhere. I mean, seriously? There was no valid reason for such a hefty price tag, and it left a sour taste in my mouth.

The restaurant is running with huge shortage of staff. After ordering of food we had to wait for 50 minutes for the food to reach the table. The air conditions are insufficient and does not reach left hand corner and we had to change seat out of suffocation. So if you are visiting the restaurant please choose centre tables. We requested change of plate because it was giving a bad smell. We ordered veg food of total 5 items and paid rs 814 as bill and hence conclude the items are costly. The cook forgot to add salt in two items namely shukto and dhokar dalna. The taste of rest items is OK but not something you would remember or discuss after leaving the restaurant.
