Souvlakia India — Restaurant in West Bengal

The facade and the lighting outside this restaurant itself will make you feel interested in knowing what is served inside !! And in one sentence--- Souvlakia India does not disappoint, rather will make you think of visiting it again. We started with the Chicken Yakhni Shorba which was tasty, flavourful with a delicately tender chicken piece ....a perfect start to your dinner on a December evening. We had thought of ordering the Tundey Kabab next but unfortunately it was not available. However a close look at the menu made us order another delicious item -- the Adraki Gosht Punji or what we commonly know as Adrak Ke Panje.... this was heavenly with the correct blend of spices and tiny pieces of adrak which bursts into your mouth as you take a bite into that perfectly cooked , well marinated tender piece of Mutton. Comparisons are bound to happen with the same item at another well known Punjabi Cuisine restaurant near Acropolis Mall in Kolkata but I must say that Souvlakia's dish was somewhat different but immensely likeable. What was to follow was what this restaurant's name suggests .... we got some authentic Greek Chicken and Lamb Souvlaki --- well marinated and grilled chunks of chicken and lamb (separate dishes) which was served with Pita, salad and a few add ons including Hummus, Tzatziki and others. I came to know that this place used to serve very good Shahi Tukda for dessert but has discontinued the item .....request the management to restart it. The restaurant itself is not very spacious but has a cosy ambiance to it with some good decor. The washroom is at a higher level and one should be careful while getting in or out of it. However it is spotlessly clean with some useful advice written on the walls for the users. The prices of the dishes were absolutely alright and Pintu who served us was excellent . Overall a fine experience .....this restaurant is repeatable. To reach , one has to take the road behind Central Mall in New Town and go past New Town Business Club and then turn right .... it is a 2 minute drive...

Being a food lover i was in search for such a destination and after too much research i ordered and my experience is superb.The food was really yummy.The Navaratra Pulao is having the perfect combination of flavour of aromatic spices and numerous dry fruits and vegetables is very delicious when it was combined with yellow dal fry and the Veg milani Handi was tasty blend of vegetables and green chilli spice.If you’re looking to reduce cooking time but still want a decent side of veggies, I highly recommend this.I also ordered Malabar prawn curry the taste is delicious. This place is highly recommended for this prawn dish.Chicken butter masala was very tasty and tenderness of thr pieces were perfect . Last but the best one was Sarso wali Machli is having the correct combination of spices which is perfect absorbed and succulent pieces of fish you left sucking juice off your fingertips. Souvlakia is a recent established located at a 7-8 minute walk from Pride Hotel, Newtown. The place is cozy, bright, and lively enough to host visitors.

Souvlaki is essentially a Greek dish, consisting of pieces of meat grilled on a skewer. The place is undoubtedly inspired by the concept and hence the uncanny choice of naming. They serve Greek and Chinese food, alongside the North Indian dishes in their menu.

We tried a few of their specials and they include the Dungar ki Gobi, Prawn Momo Mozzarella Murgh Tikka, Gondhoraj Mahi Tikka among Starters.

We further proceeded on to some Indian and Chinese mains like Dal Makhani, Dhaba Chicken Bharta, Mutton Keema Matar, Butter Garlic Naan, Chilli Honey Potato, Mixed Pan Fried Noodles, Butter Garlic Fish, Mixed Fried Rice, and Cantonese Chicken

We did also try a range of their mocktails like Jamaican Mojito, Orange Mojito, Spicy Guava Lemonade, Virgin Colada.
