This is a small and cozy outlet of the Chowman Chinese restaurant chain. To start with, I have to say the staff are very very nice and courteous. This is a big plus indicator of a place before the food even comes. The space is not as big as other restaurants but the ambiance is cozy. Oriental music plays in the background and the decor is the typical Chinese red. They offer a QR code based link for the menu which basically takes you to their Google Maps link where the menu is available as well. Network was not good inside the restaurant so I would suggest to download the menu images before coming here. Alternatively, you can ask for a physical menu which, if I recall correctly, was an older menu so the pricing listed there is different from the current menu. The service and food preparation is fast. Coming to the food itself, it was quite good. As food taste differs from person to person, this is my opinion based on my taste. I enjoyed the food. It wasn't too spicy, or too oily which I appreciated. Quantity is pretty decent as well. The pricing is at par for similar Chinese restaurants of the same kind. Parking is done on the street in front of the restaurant. I expect there may be space issues if multiple cars come. For 2-wheelers, there is ample parking space. And talking of 2 wheelers, judging from the huge number of Zomato and Swiggy bikes that were parked in front of the restaurant when I went, I can guess this is a very popular restaurant with people. On the whole, it was a good eating experience and one that I would definately repeat again.
Review Update (February 2025) : Chowman Newtown shifted to this current location. Located at 1st floor, with lift access. The new location has a much bigger seating space with more tables and bright lighting. Food tastes great as always. Service is good with polite and...
Read moreOverall a very good experience with food and service... The delicacies were really delightful... The restaurant is very clean, located in a very good location... However, i would request the restaurant to take a look at two things specifically as experienced by us - The atmosphere is not well suited for birthday parties... Restaurants do hold parties, however this place is very small with insufficient space to hold parties... Me and my wife went there for our anniversary, we could barely talk to each other because there was a big birthday being celebrated at the restaurant that covered the entire space... So please avoid holding parties to prevent inconvenience to other guests... The staff needs to be better trained in coordination... Their behaviour and service was good, but they are not at all coordinating between each other... First of all, 3-4 different staff members came to us asking for what we would like to order, this shows that they do not talk to each other that we already placed the order with each of them... Also the most unpleasant instance of miscoordination for us was the bill payment... We already paid the bill with our server... While we were leaving, another server asked us if we paid our bill or not... Once we said we did, he talked to our initial server and confirmed whether we paid or not... This was extremely insulting as it made us look like we were leaving without paying whereas we paid already... We aren't beggars that the guy had to confirm whether we paid or not... This happened due lack of coordination and such an instance happened to me for the very first time in my life... So please make sure that guests are not insulted like this unintentionally nonetheless just because the staff are not coordinating with each...
Read moreI am beyond frustrated with my recent experience at Chowman. I ordered 3 mixed chilli garlic noodles, expecting a delicious and satisfying meal, but what I received was nothing short of a disaster. To begin with, there was a complete lack of ingredients. No chicken, no eggs, and only a few countable prawns. It was nothing like what I had ordered, and definitely not worth the price.
To make matters worse, I provided clear cooking instructions, specifically asking for spicy noodles. What did they deliver? Sweet noodles! Completely off the mark. This blatant disregard for customer preferences is both disappointing and infuriating.
When I raised my concerns, instead of apologizing or offering a resolution, the staff at Chowman denied any fault and argued with me, claiming it wasn’t their mistake. This kind of behavior is utterly unprofessional and unacceptable. Not only did they fail to deliver the correct dish, but they also refused to take responsibility for their mistake.
The noodles were so bad that my family and guests couldn't even finish them. After just a few bites, we threw the entire dish away. It was a complete waste of money and time. Chowman’s lack of care for their customers and refusal to rectify the situation shows that they don’t value customer satisfaction.
I would strongly advise anyone considering this restaurant to think twice. This experience was shameful, and I’ll never be ordering from Chowman again. Their poor service, subpar food, and utter disregard for customer complaints make it clear that they’re only interested in taking your money, not providing a quality experience. Stay away...
